Acer netbook

Having an issue with my Acer Netbook, have only had it for about 5 months and it has locked up. It says it is trying to log out of windows and has been doing that for two days now. I was hoping the battery would die and it would force it to shut down but keeps on going. I guess after a period of inactivity it goes to sleep to preserve the battery. Does anybody have any ideas? Would it be a hard drive issue? I know this is not a ton of information, I can supply more if you have ideas. Please help with any thoughts. Thank you so much

Have you tried to use the task manager to force quit?

If that doesn't work, try removing the battery which will cause it to shut down.

My DD has a 4-5 yr old Acer netbook, and about a year ago it was having some problems. we ended up having to restore the hard drive to factory settings. I think she had some sort of virus.

i am not sure what is going on but the battery will die. I've had mine for about 2 years now and i can leave it turned on and it will die out sooner or later

I'm making a bit of an assumption here based on your post, but did you know if you hold the power button down on a laptop for a few seconds it will force it to shut off?

Do that and leave it sit for a little bit, maybe a minute or so, then turn it back on and see what happens. Sometimes computers just get "hung up" for lack of a better word and forcing them off and on again can fix that.

Duh, I do not know why I did not think about taking off the batery or holding in the power button. It is working again, removing the battery and leaving off for 30 minutes did the trick. Thank you again
