I am planning a trip for early 2016 and saw a crowd calendar for January and February 2016 on wdw prep school. How accurate could that be at this point? I tried looking at easywdw but they didn't seem to have one up for that time yet. I'm really looking to get some help in picking which week to go!

Sure, you can make crowd calendars for five years from now that are fairly accurate. All you need to know is...

1. When the major holidays fall for a given year.
2. When schools are likely to be in session for southern states.
3. When schools are likely to be in session for northern states.

The above are the factors that drive the basic crowd calender design. Other factors will cause these calenders to be fine tuned as time draws closer, such as...
1. Major park events that might cause changes in guest patterns (such as Avatar Land opening, Jersey Week etc.).
2. EMH hours. These will help direct you to specific parks on specific days.
3. Other factors I am sure others can think of.

Look at Easy WDW's 2015 and go from there.

I did that and they seem to be quite different (to me anyway) mostly due to Mardi Gras and President's day. I was originally thinking about 2/5-2/13 but now I'm wondering if the end of month (2/22-3/1) might be better for lower crowds. I'll have my 5 year old and my 71 year old mother so I really want low crowds to keep waiting (and walking) to a minimum. thoughts?

I am looking to go the same time frame as you are. I have done quite a bit of research and it seems for crowd control, the first 10 days in February is the lowest but to expect cooler weather and some ride closures. From the 22nd of February to 3rd of March seems to be the other lowest crowd week in February but is during regular season so prices will be a little higher then the first week of February.

I agree with you on all points. I was ready to book our room when the 2016 calendar came out on wdw prep and said that Mardi Gras would be the 7th (? could have been the 9th) and also mentioned cheer competitions as well. They lastly threw in an early Presidents day. So I started to rethink the dates. I know the end wouldn't be value season anymore but I think both dates would be covered by either a room only discount or Stay Play and Dine (if they offer it). Do you think Mardi Gras will really effect crowds? I'm very torn and ready to book. Help!

I know that you want to be no where near the parks on Presidents weekend. It is a mob and I will never go again at that time!
