Anyone ever try accupuncture for any reason? If so, how was it and did it help?

How much does it cost and does insurance pay for any of it?

I have had accupuncture several times. I think its effectiveness depends on what you are being treated for. I have a nerve disorder and it didn't help it but it helped my periods and insomnia. Insurance generally doesn't cover it but I never let what I do and don't do medically to be determined by what insurance does and does not cover. My health is to important to me. Of course, when you have a chronic disease, you will do just about anything, regardless of the cost, if you think it might make you better.

My accupuncture treatments are usually $60 a treatment.

Again, whether it works or not truly depends on what your ailment is.

Good Luck

I have been having acupuncture for the past 6 years. Used to have chronic ear infections, haven't had one since I started. I have gallbladder disease and as long as I don't skip more than 3 months in a row, I am able to keep that in check as well. Helps greatly in the spring with sinus problems and I've used it during birth to progress labor and manage pain.

I look at it as my monthly 'me' time. It's a 2 hour session where 1.5 hours of it is spent relaxing in peace and quiet and it's so refreshing. :thumbsup2

A really long time ago my chiropractor sent me to have this done. DH was observing while the needles were being put in...he was fascinated by it all. He said he could actually see my muscles relax and straighten out right before his eyes. That's one of the big problems I was having....muscles knotted and pulling me out of alignment. I didn't find the procedure painful at all but it's been way too long to remember anything about cost or insurance coverage.

I truly believe that accupuncture saved my life when I was pregnant. Something happened with the way DD was sitting inside me and I was in tremendous back pain. I cried when I had to go to the bathroom because it hurt so mush to walk. Of course I couldn't take strong pain killers so in desperation I went to an accupuncturist.

It was a MIRACLE! The first treatment took about 18 hours to "take" and from then on I got better. I had treatments weekly and then bi-weekly for the rest of my pregnancy and it allowed me to continue working.

Insurance did not cover the treatments but it didn't matter, I needed it. I always recc. accupuncture and assure people it doesn't hurt and is very relaxing.

Thank you for your replies.

I would be treating low back pain and sciatica.

This has fascinated me for some time, so if this medication doesn't work, I may try it.
