I wonder if anybody could help us. We are staying at the CBR for 2 weeks in August and we have booked through Virgin. As yet, we have not specified any building to stay in whilst we are there. I would appreciate any views on which are the best buildings to stay in. We have 2 daughters, aged 5 and 7 ( both gorgeous ), and ideally we do not want to walk too far. If we do want to specify a particular room, what is the best way to do this? Should we ring up Virgin or WDW direct? Do you have to pay a supplement if you stay in certain blocks? I would appreciate any advice on any of these questions.

When we stayed at CBR in Nov., at check-in we requested a room near the main bldg which houses the food court-Old Port Royale. The CM gave us a room in Martinique which turned out to be just steps from the food court and from a bus stop. Great location, but after returning from our trip, I read on the Disboards that it is considered a Preferred location and there is a $10 extra fee per night. We were not charged this fee, I assume because we did not request it in advance. You might just want to take your chances and rquest it at check-in. I know Nov. is normally considered an off-peak time to go, it was crowded since we were there over Veteran's Day weekend. So if you wait until check-in you might get the room location you want. I don't think I would pay extra for any room location myself. Sorry this turned out to be so long. Have a great time!:sunny:

We stayed in Jamaica which was beautiful. We asked at check in and the CM checked the computer and said no problem.

The buildings closest to the main building (food court) are now preffered locations and you are charged $10 extra per night. The reason that the previous poster wasn't charged in Nov is because this did not begin until January.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, my mind has gone blank, even though I just stayed there at Christmas! I stayed in Martinique which was great, but is now a preferred location.

Trinidad south is the furthest away area and you really don't want to be stuck there.

Why not try posting a message in the Resorts board?

Thank you for your helpful advice. I think we will wait until we arrive at CBR and take our chance on what rooms are available.

we stayed in Barbados block 13 - on the map this looks miles from the food court but we really didn't find it an issue - it was a pleasant walk along the edge of the lake, and very convenient for the bus stop, so we were quite happy there even though I had initially felt barbados was not a 'good' location.
