Accommodation and Ticket Packages

Hi all,

We are coming from Australia to Disneyworld for a 9 night trip from June 30th and looking to stay at Pop Centaury. I was about to book the package with park hopper plus tickets however I then realised that the packages save you exactly $0 from booking accommodation and tickets separately. Is this normal? Should I wait to see if there is a package sale? Or since there is a 30% off sale for accommodation should we just book the accommodation now and keep an eye out for better ticket sales for multiday park hopper plus?

Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated!

Classic room only vs package debate! Some are better to buy them seperate and get a deal on tickets via a 3rd party seller (undercover tourist used to be the most popular around here but maybe now it's unlocked magic?). Others are better price wise to get a package from Disney if free dining is on offer or something. (That math is trickier with kids dine free offer this year for everyone though.) You need to run your own math like you're doing.

Major differences between room only and packages are refundability and payments. Room only gives you more generous 8 day cancellation, final payment due on check in, tickets not refundable (well, undercover tourist offers refunds for a fee, idk others, Disney does not). Package has a fee to refund after 30 days, but would make your tickets refundable.

Personal guess is the summer discounts are fully out. Maybe we see something new drop in the next couple months- but you could always switch to that if you aren't in your cancellation windows. I would absolutely get something booked room wise now since you're going to be here over the 4th of July (as America's 250th no less) plus the world cup.

As @gottalovepluto said, you will have to do Disney math. Compare the different discounts available for your dates and see if you come out ahead on one of them.

New discounts were recently added through mid-October, so I don’t think Disney will add any for June/July beyond the ones currently out there. The next round will probably include late fall dates.

Generally, if you pay rack rate, it doesn’t matter price wise if you book it as a package or as a room only with tickets added.

Thank you very much @gottalovepluto and @DanceDisney23 , I just had a look at Unlocked Magic and park hopper plus tickets are about $600 cheaper for our dates. Is it a reliable site and are there any catches with going through Unlocked Magic opposed to Disney's official site? Do they just email you the tickets?

Thanks again

Pop is showing rooms available with the 30% off room discount for your dates. You could book that & get discounted tickets from an outside seller, or get the 4 day/ 4 park tickets from Disney, depending how many days you need. There is also a free dining offer out. You’ll have to do the math & see what works out best for you.

Edit to add… Packages do not generally go “on sale”. The usual package discount is free dining. However, the room discount offer can be made into a ticketless package, but you have to call. You can definitely book a ticketless package then get discounted tickets elsewhere & add those to your MDE account.

I haven’t used that site, but Attraction Tickets often has good deals. I’ve used that one with no problems.

Use the search feature here on the DIS for user experiences with the different companies, just type in the company name and you're sure to see some comments.
