Accident on DCA TSM today.

While boarding TSMM this morning we unfortunately witnessed a rather nasty guest accident. A lady just to the right of me somehow lost her footing and went flying face first into the track pit between two ride vehicles. She landed face down across the ride rail and that must have been quite painful. Her friend jumped down to help her. Everyone else froze for a second in a state of shock. A CM quickly E-Stopped the ride and they cleared the queue. By the time we left the lady was up to a sitting position but that must have hurt a lot and knocked the wind out of her. I thought I heard her say her back hurt, not surprising as she was a bit jackknifed over the ride rail. The rails carry current for the ride so I don't know if she was in danger of getting shocked. We certainly felt sorry for her, not the way to start your day. Ride was down for about 90 mins afterward.

Yikes is right! Hopefully she wasn't injured too badly. I am clumsy at times and I always feel I'm going to be the one tripping and falling.

Several years ago (like early 90's) my aunt fell getting onto the teacups and broke her arm. Not a fun way to have a vacation. Actually, on the same vacation my cousin who was about 3 got separated from the group and was lost in the part for about an hour before a CM found him hiding in a bush. It was sort of a rough vacation all around.

I tell my DH it's not my fault, walls jump at me. Unfortunately my kids seem to take after me and not him!

I understand that with humans, accidents will happen. No telling how she lost her footing, she just did. I hope she is ok. A car getting rear-ended on RSR makes me nervous though. That would mean there was a failure of a safety mechanism.

No one was hurt thank goodness, but yeah, I hope they get that worked out!

The part when 2 tracks merge into 1 (at the end). The turntable thing malfunctioned and the next car loaded into the following one.

It shouldn't have been too big of a collision then, thank goodness! When I pictured it in my head after reading it, I imagined them rear-ending each other on the race part. That would be a nightmare! I wonder what safety mechanism failed and if they're going to need to shut the ride down for a while for safety testing?

Oh my gosh, that would have been horrible! That would be some serious whiplash Yeah, when it happened I heard it would be closed for a few days. I'm assuming since it was open the next day, they figured out what was wrong over night?

My Father is mobility challenged. Now that we know they have a disabled entrance we always use that. Before we knew about the entrance, this ride caused me the most anxiety when he tried to load. I think it would be very easy to stumble trying to get on this ride, especially if someone has difficulty lifting their legs. Best wishes to the injured guest, she's probably so embarrassed she doesn't even know what hurts yet

How can you fall onto the tracks unless you were distracted or not paying attention?!?

I've got MS. I haven't felt my feet in AGES. I don't do well in heat (it's an MS thing). I've had to CRAWL to a cold place--in the freakin' middle of the parks--because my legs stopped working. I also have bad depth perception as well. So anything that is "obviously" a change in elevation (a step, a ramp) isn't so obvious to me if there isn't a significant color change.

I promise, I'm paying attention. I'm paying so much attention that I've stopped rides trying not to fall, knowing that no matter what I do, my foot is going to hit the edge of ride vehicle. If I'm lucky, Hubs will be there to catch me. If I'm not, I'm ending up on my bad arm, my bad knees, or my rear, depending on what angle I go, if I don't manage to catch myself. (Now I know about the alternative loading areas, thankfully.)

Not all disabilities are visible. Unless you were there--unless you were a part of her party!--you have NO IDEA why she fell, and to blame it on her being distracted, not paying attention, or texting is just plain offensive to those of us trying to enjoy the parks regardless of our physical issues!
