Hi,

I am looking for Taxi companies that have accessible vehicles in their fleets. I already have mears booked for my airport transportation but I am looking for something to me around the I-drive area for dining.

Thanks

Autumn

You should just be able to call the front desk of your hotel and tell them to order you an accessible taxi.

I believe mears has quite a few. you can call or have the front desk call. Just give yourself some time as it could take 30-45min to get to the resort. I think it would be best to call a day in advance and make a ressie if possible.

Thanks so much, I just want to make sure I have some options and put the numbers in my cell phone.

Today I spoke with an operations manager at Mears (which is several taxi companies, City Cab, Checker Cab, Yellow Cab). He said they currently have 21 Ford Windstar vans with titanium ramps. They do not have lifts. But they are able to handle wheelchairs, power chairs and ECVs. With that many there should not be much of a problem in getting one within a short period of time. And the fare is the same as a regular taxicab.

Thank you so much, it is good to know there are a decent number in service. I will make sure I have Mears programmed into my cell phone.
