I hope you don't mind me copying this post from the accessible room sticky thread, I'm hoping for some replies to a new thread.

We have just booked a trip for July staying 16 nights at POR then 5 nights at Pop Century. We are a family of 3 adults, myself, DH and DS (18) who is quadriplegic and a full time wheelchair user. I have a few questions about the rooms we will be allocated.

I requested accessible rooms with a roll in shower. The CM who took the booking said we would have rooms with 2 double beds which would be fine. Special Needs have called back and say they have allocated us an accessible king bed room at both resorts with a rollaway bed. :confused3

Will this work for us? What size are the rollaway beds? Are they robust enough/large enough/comfortable for an adult? Can we use bed rails with them? What is the height like for transfer to/from a wheelchair? Where in the room would a rollaway bed be positioned? Will there be enough floor space for a wheelchair alongside the bed for transfers? Will we still have space to move around with a wheelchair? Does anyone have photos of the rollaway beds?

We have always had connecting rooms or rooms with 2 beds before so has policy changed? Do they have rooms with 2 beds and a rollaway shower? I just don't want us to be struggling, 3 weeks is a long time to struggle and for one of us to not even have a proper bed.

Can anyone help with finding the locations of accessible rooms at these resorts? I can find a map of Pop showing accessible rooms but not one for POR. Can anyone recommend good locations to request.

We stayed at POR for 9 days. My DS, 21 at the time, is in a wheelchair. We had an accessible room w/ roll-in shower. We actually rented a hospital bed from a company on the Disney list, so that we would have rails, and to elevate my DS head for his night tube feed. The hospital bed was already in the room when we arrived, but it was too tight of a fit to move around. We called the front desk and in minutes CM's showed up and moved the king bed against the wall, removed a nightstand and a chair. It worked well for us. The bathroom was very user friendly. We also had a connecting room, because we had 5 people, and we could easily use the interior door. We received several phone calls from management asking if things were acceptable. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Not at POR but our experience of rollaway beds is that they are not suitable for an adult for that long. They are just about ok for a couple of nights or young children. I would be going back to them saying it is unacceptable - you shouldn't have to suffer because you want an accessible room.
