Accessible cabins?

Right now we're GTY (?) for a deluxe oceanview with verandah. Does anyone know what the accessible cabins w/verandah are like? My dh is an amputee, and while he could, I'm sure, get by without an accessible cabin, it would be nice for him to have the bars in the bathroom. I don't want to take the cabin from someone who is wheelchair bound, as my dh is mobile, but there's no denying the comfort it would bring dh to actually have the bars. However, if the room is less nice/big/or the balcony isn't as nice as a regular verandah room I won't bother, but if the verandah is just as nice, then I may ask for an accessible room. Ideas?

Which ship? My mother and I were in a HA cat. 6 on the Wonder in cabin # 6654 at the very back of the ship. The cabin was large and the balcony was HUGE. However, it was a LONG way from the cabin to the nearest elevator, and it was a PITA for my mom to get down the long hallway in her electric wheelchair with housekeeping carts in the hallway twice a day.

There might be some rooms that have bars that did not make the asscessible room standard on the Dream. Also you can ask for a bath bench. They can provided that for you. You should call DCL special needs to ask. :)

Scooter or wheelchairs do not fit thru the doorway in a non HC cabin. There is a step to the bathroom also.

Call whomever booked this for you and request a HC cabin ASAP. There are not very many of them. DCL may want proof of your need for the cabin, if they ask the form is not long or cumbersome. Some times they ask, sometimes not. A couple of downfalls, no bath tub and no split bath. The chair will go out on the verandah.

Our HA cat. 6 on the Wonder (#6654) had both the roll-in shower and a bathtub.
