I am trying to purchase insurance on line through AccessAmerica for our Decemer 2004 cruise. However, on the site, it calculates children in the rate quoted and I thought I read here that children are free. It quoted me $306 for DH, me, DD6 and DS5 and it seems very, very high.

Does anybody have any information on how to proceed on line with kids being free? Am I correct in thinking that kids are free?

All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Gloria

Cannot wait--49 weeks and counting down!!!

My T/A suggested AccessAmerica and told me children were free. So when I called they also quoted me with a charge for the children. I told them that my T/A had told me that children were free, and that's when he corrected himself and said " oh yes, I'm sorry children are free" and gave me a new quote. For my husband and myself the insurance for a 7 day cruise was I think no more than $110.00.

I just called access america also and was told children are not free. I asked if they were previously offering a "free children" program and they said no. I know I read on these boards that others have gotten the insurance with no charge for kids. What is going on?

We just purchased the AccessAmerica plan, and the kids were free. We booked it though AAA though, and it's called AAA trip assist. Maybe the "kids free" thing is only through travel agents with a contract with Access America. Good Luck!

Thanks to all for your replies. However, I still have a question. I booked our trip directly through DCL. However, I do belong to AAA. Can I book the insurance directly with AccessAmerica telling them I belong to AAA and receive the kids free quote.

Is there a direct e-mail link to AccessAmerica for AAA members?

Thanks again.

Gloria

There is a web link to the AAA access america where it comes up with the ability to get the children for free. I found the link on this website by using the search feature a couple of months ago. Unfortunatly it is dissabled at the moment. Try again in a little while and hopefully you will find the link.

Good question.....about dealing with AccessAmerica with AAA. Don't know the answer but would like to.

What age is the cutoff for kids free?

AccessAmerica is the same company DCL uses...at least it was when we sailed in May.

I used this plan and July and think I have a few answers

Kid age cutoff is 18 (even if disney counts them as adults in their fare calculation)

The kids free is related to AAA but you do not need to be a member to get it. I have heard people having trouble on the web getting this rate but it for sure exists!

Good luck, it is worth it!

That's the link I used! It saved us a ton of money since I have 3 kids! When I booked our insurance through DCL last year we paid $350 for insurance. I booked our Explorer of the Seas insurance through that link and we are paying $89 for our family of 5! (I'm sure if I had booked insurance though RCCL it would have been as much as booking through DCL).

Gina:

Thank you so much for the direct e-mail link. They quoted me $89 which is a savings of over $200.

Thanks again!!!

*hugs*

Thank my AAA travel agent... she gave me the direct link. :) Glad it saved you so muh money!!

Thanks for the link! I was having the same problem with the regular site and not getting the kids for free. You just saved me $108.00 - WOW!

You guys are fabulous!

Is my understanding correct that you don't have to be an AAA member to use that linK? What plan is everyone buying- regular comprehensive or deluxe comprehensive? I love these boards!

I'm not really sure about needing to be a AAA customer to buy through that link...

But as for the other question, one key difference between the regular comprehensive and the deluxe is that children are not free with the deluxe plan. And from comparing the two, it seems that the deluxe covers way more $$-wise than the average cruiser is likely to need. I have the regular comprehensive. Only $58 for me, and my son is free. *cheers* DCL wanted $200 for the both of us. No thanks, DCL. :)

Thank You everyone for all the great info. I used the direct link to book our insurance through Access America. I was able to get the 2 kids for free, thanks to all of you, always useful info on the Dis board. You saved me money again. :Pinkbounc

Be careful. I spoke to access america and was given the same information ( we do not have a children free deal) and then I said, well what about the AAA rate and they gave me the site.. BUT.. I was told that we must be working through AAA to get the family rate (kids free). Not a big deal for me since the ressies will be given to AAA for the mug program. (you do not have to be A AAA member to use their travel services)

But for those not dealing with AAA on their cruise may want to investigate further as the insurance you buy may not cover you????

Then again it may work?

Hi
After reading the last post I got a little nervous that I had done the wrong thing by booking the insurance through the AAA link(since I am not using AAA). I just called Access America and the woman I spoke with said it was okay to use the Trip Assist Link...I just hope she knew what I was talking about ...sometimes conversations are not as clear as they seem. Has anyone else booked through the AAA link that wasn't using AAA? I'd hate to save $100. and then find out we aren't really covered. Maybe I'll call again ...
