In looking at some maps, it looks like there's only one way into and out of Old Key West. Is that correct?

If so, do OKW regulars think that this makes the parts of the resort near the front more desirable?

(Speaking as a potential DVC buyer, who would likely only occasionally stay at OKW.)

While that is true, and I have been staying at OKW every year since I have been a member, '92....that has very honestly never ever crossed my mind once. I never saw it as any sort of a negative....then again, I've never been hiding there as a fugitive either.....

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", Karl Marx, pretty sick, huh?

It is like living in a gated community. I don't particularily think of any one area as being more advantageous than another. I usually just take whatever they give me. The only request I make is for non-smoking. I do kind of like being in the Southpoint area (near the far back of OKW). It is the second bus stop and is also close to the walkway to DD. I also like that quiet pool a lot. But then, I love the views from the Turtle pond and Miller's Road areas too. I am also one of those who does not mind the buses, so maybe I am wierd. I figure I am on vacation, so why be in such a rush for everything! It doesn't take long to figure out the bus schedule each trip, and it gives me time to stop an smell the roses! It always seems to me that is one of the charms of OKW. I truely feel I am on vacation there! :)

When driving, there is only one way in or out of every WDW resort.

about the only negative I have ever heard voiced regarding locations in OKW is when someone was very close to the bus line and felt that the noise from the buses was a bit much.

There is only one way in or out of any of the WDW resorts (excepting service areas). This is true of most resorts. It helps with security and access control. We have been members since 1992 and have stayed in different areas of OKW. We prefer the Old Turtle Pond area. It is quiet, has a lovely pool and is close enough to walk to HH if we so desire.

Considering the size of the resort, very rarely have I ever even encountered anyone in front of us at the guard shack going onto the property.
The best advantages of OKW are for those who drive or rent a car. You can get away from the ordinary hustle and bustle of a Hotel and park in front of your unit. The bus system works well and even though we always have a car we use it to go to MK and AK.
