Going to be making a stop in the Altoona area next week after a few days exploring Gettysburg. Will it be worth my time to make a side trip to AC Moore? We don't have one in my area and don't know how much they have.
Can any loyal ACM buyers help?

I have never been to that AC Moore but I have been to the one in Balimore, MD and that store has a large variety of scrap supplies----I think there are like 5 or 6 isles. Definatly more than Michael's or Jo Ann's. I hope this helps. Also I believe there is a scrap specialty store near Gettysburg as well, I remember seeing something about it in creating keepsakes.

Yes it definately helps. I will try and make a run there in between family visits.

Also I have the address for the Gettysburg store printed out along with their online coupon.....woo hoo!!! Got to have those lazer cuts of civil war stuff.....
too cool.

Just saw this post...
Hope you haven't left yet! But there is a scrapbook store near gettysburg.

I haven't been there but plan to visit when we go over the 4th!

we will just miss you...I am there the 25th to the 28th of June.....and YES that is the store I have planned for a quick stop. :rotfl: They have a coupon online, did you print it out? Love their lazer cuts and will definately be picking up some of those for page toppers. Have a great time! We are looking forward to it....hey did you check out gettysburg.com they have a schedule of events for the entire month there, times of tours etc. Great site. And they have a free tour book you can order. Check it out if you get time.

Bummer ! It could have beeen fun to meet another DIS'er.
I have looked around the Gettysburg site before. This will be our first trip there! Of course the scrap book store is tops on my list! Her web site is great! No coupons yet for July!
is there any reinactments going on when you are there? There is lots of celebrations and stuff going on over the 4th.!

they are setting up for 5 - 6 reenactments over over first two days there. Great photo ops...:) The boys are so excited. They are planning on enlisting in the army one of days and learning what it was like to be a civil war soldier.
Was told today by my gyn that they have Jr.Ranger booklets you can get also. It has information and questions for kids to answer and they earn a actual cloth badge when completed. She said it was a life saver with her kids as it kept them interested in what was going on who/what/why etc. Can you imagine this conversation over....well you know what was going on....lol! She was like so what are you up to this summer? and then we started on Gettysburg....lol... :rotfl: Guess after three kids and a hysterectomy I don't pay much attention to whats going on during that exam anymore :) Maybe I will just use the time as a travel consoltation. Oh my!

Have a ton of fun on your trip!!!

neat! Definately great photo ops! (gettysburg part! HAHAHA :rotfl2:)
So does your family do the reinactments? DO your kids have all the clothes?
I will be on the look out for those ranger books. That does sound good! Make sure to post or send me a PM when you get back!

no reenactments here. My son (11) loves history and thought it would be fun to see Gettysburg. The soldier enlistment is through the national park service at 11 am daily. They teach the kids what it was like to be a soldier in the civil war. The boys ( DS, nephew 11) think it sounds fun. This is our first time to Gettysburg, but my Mom has been once before. She is going to help us navigate. I guess the thing to do is go to the Cyclaramo (sp?), they show you the battle in 3D and explain different things. This way when you walk the battle field you can visualize better what was going on. I a just excited to spend some time with my Mom.

Then we are off to Altoona to see some family. Where are you in Pa? Have family in Holidaysburg, Tyrone, Altoona, Roaring Springs and my bro is in Mercer.

Will send pm when I return....
