Spring Break Trip Day 3 (3/21)
Our return to RPR and USF
Our Cast
Me DH (41), DW(40), DD(16), DD(7), DD(6), DMIL(61) and DFIL(63).
We had reservations for the character breakfast at Confisco Grille at 9:00AM, so we planned an early departure from La Quinta Sunday morning. We all awoke for an exciting day at Universal and departed La Quinta around 7:30AM. We arrived at RPR and check-in was very smooth. We headed to the boat launch around 8:15 AM but the boats were not running yet. Our youngest DDs did not know about the character breakfast but knew a surprise awaited them at IOA. They were asking about it during our brisk walk to the park. The park was scheduled to open at 9:00AM but they started letting people in around 8:45AM. We were greeted at Confisco by Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. The DDs enjoyed meeting and interacting with the characters and the food was really good. Although the character breakfast is a buffet, drinks are not included in the buffet price and they are quite pricey. Our overall experience was enjoyable. After breakfast, the DDs wanted to ride CITH and OFBF before heading back to US.
On our previous trip to USF during the Christmas holidays, we didn't see any of the shows at US other than Animal Planet Live. We planned to see all the shows during our first day at US this time. The Ghostbusters Show was absolutely hilarious and extremely entertaining. The Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue was risque and very funny. Beetlejuice was very funny during the opening and I loved his line about "wearing the newest Martha Stewart line" while pointing at his striped suit. The show was entertaining and the actor playing Beetlejuice was hilarious throughout the show even when the other actors sang their songs. We really enjoyed the other three shows - Blues Brothers, Terminator, and Horror Makeup Show as well. The Horror Makeup show was funny and the interaction with the crowd really made the show entertaining. The pre-show for Terminator is pretty funny and the 3D show is very cool and
well designed. We also rode all the rides and enjoyed a few carnival games. We headed to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner.
I've never been a big fan of the food at most Hard Rock Cafes but I was pleasantly surprised at the menu this time. I shared the fajitas with my youngest DD while the others enjoyed burgers, pasta, and buffalo chicken strips. Our middle DD ate spaghetti and meatballs at most of the full service restaurants during our stay at USF. After dinner, we headed back to RPR to get our rooms. We were assigned rooms in Tower 1 - 1349 and 1351. The rooms overlooked the front bridge and the water garden. My DFIL and I are both Loews Blue members but only our room received a welcoming gift. After three calls, they finally brought up his welcoming gift. We were all tired and hit the sack pretty early.
