abusing carts

I noticed a marked increase in the number of people abusing the carts during our Easter stay at FW. I had thought about calling the bike barn with the cart numbers (if I could get them) then I figured I was on vacation and didnt really need to be the "cart cop" Other than any obvious dangerous driving I stayed out of it.
The new green carts are already looking rough. Ours had yellow paint creased down the passenger side as well as a wobbly ride and scraping brakes. all evidence of abuse IMHO.
The unfortunate part of all this is that it costs us all. If Disney has to pay more in repairs they obviously pass that along.
I would really like to see Disney take a serious stance on this, I dont think its likeley though. Disney seems to be very non confrontational on issues like this.

Boy, this is disconcerting..you really pay enough for the use of these carts. I think you are right it really isn't fair to the next person who is going to pay through the nose for a cart and get one that has been abused. I sure hope they look them over before they give them to next guest. Perhaps with it being Spring Break time..they are just getting a real workout. Too bad.

Hi BigDisneyDaddy! I am glad to see you and your family made it back safely and it was a pleasure meeting you. Maybe on the Christmas trip I will have the priviledge of meeting your wife. I also wanted to add to your post that we were staying in the 1700 loop (as requested) and noticed that a lot of people brought their own cart, as do I. However, letting your child that is obviously under the age of 12 drive them is crazy! I could not imagine letting one of mine behind the wheel. I don't even let them sit in my lap and "pretend" to drive. They know our cart is faster than the ones at Disney and everyone must be seated in their assigned seats before I will even turn the key. Why do parents think that it is o.k. to let an unlicensed driver behind the wheel? Those carts weight anywhere from 700 to 1000 pounds. Don't they realize this could do massive damage to someones truck, camper or, heaven forbid, another child if the driver lost control of the cart? I noticed that security was a bit slack this visit. During the summer they had one security guy that had someone pulled over everytime I passed him. Easter week I saw security (in a truck) go through our loop on one day, one time. I am glad to see your post because I was thinking that maybe it was just me that noticed the abuse.

Yes we finally got home.... but thats another painful story.

Time sure seemed to be at a premium this trip. We only got to see Sundee a couple of times. I really wanted to spend some more time with her but with her off for a few days and me sick with the flu on Easter sunday it didnt leave any extra time. A coworker of mine stopped by with his family on Friday the 1st and liked the campground so much they stayed over. We ended up having a cookout that night and had a chance to get caught up since our wifes dont see each other that often.

I think I saw your husband on your cart but I wasnt sure. we were walking by the bus stop at your loop and he pulled up. I was going to say something but I wasnt sure it was him.
It was nice to meet you and all the kids, sorry I never got around to introducing my wife, she is used to my socially clumsy behavior

We are already making plans for the Christmas trip. We have our savings jar primed with $50 and hope to have enough for a cart the whole time on that trip.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again at Fort Wilderness.

P.S. I was going to ask you what your name "mrsgus06" meant. We were just curious. Mine is pretty easy to see once you meet me.

Growing up, my dad always called me Gus. He has a nickname for everyone in the family (except my husband who came with his own nickname, Skeeter). I introduced you to 5 of my youngest but what some people don't know is Denny (the teenager) and Katie (10) are biologically mine. Taylor is my husbands from his exwife and Kelsey and Hailey are my husbands from an exgirlfriend. Stay with me on this, because it will cause a headache! Logan is Kelsey and Hailey's little sister (same biological mom, but a different dad). However, 3 hours after giving birth to Logan, the mom passed away (totally different story) and Logan's biological father had disappeared. We knew Kelsey and Hailey would be coming home with us full time, and to keep the girls together, we asked the Grandmother if we could adopt her and raise her with her sisters. It was a good thing because the grandmother passed away 2 weeks after their mother but we were already granted custody. Last year I adopted all three girls and my husband adopted Logan. Mrs. Gus is what they called me before their mother passed and Taylor still calls me Mrs. Gus and the girls call me Mom! I know this is a long story, but it don't know of any way to shorten it. 06 is the number of kids I now claim, hence Mrsgus06!

PS; we pulled out of Ft. W on 04/02 at 5:00 a.m. to beat the traffic on I95 and my poor mother (driving her 40 ft motorhome) and my poor husband fought the most horrific wind ALL THE WAY HOME! Thank goodness for the dually as it kept the sway down, but there were some other campers swaying all over the road. It was a horrible trip, but we made it in about 9 hours.

I hope you will forgive me if I cant recall the mechanics of all that on our next visit. All of those kids are very fortunate to have a loving person like you that they can depend on ! You guys (interpreted Y'all) look like you are having fun.

Our trip home was crazy as well, I think we all left at the same time going North on I-75. I am pretty sure I made a new friend in almost every state
Apparently my 13,000 LB 50 + foot long rig is supposed to be able to move over at any time to let a 2500# compact merge at the last minute. Its hard to notice me when you are on your phone. Okay thats enough... dont get me riled up again.

The abuse of carts is something I brought to the attention of the night manager during our visit last June/July. It came because security began putting flyers on my electric car (which is 4 inches longer than the carts Disney rents) that stated I was only allowed on main roads! WHAT?!!? This car is used as a golf cart on many golf courses in my area, but is one of those dual use vehicles that can ride on the road since it has lights horn turn signals seat belts etc..

Anyway I finally got my case heard by Brian Britton, the general manager of FtW and WL. He came to our site when we were out to look at the car and declared that we could go anywhere a golf cart could. The night manager came to give us the news that night and I reminded her about the abuse of their rentals and that although it was dark and could not see the cart number, I had seen a young boy (12? 13?) and an even younger couple of kids running the cart off the road and spinning around (doing donuts) just before heading to our site for the night.

It outraged me that they spent so much time leaving notes on MY own car needlessly instead of patroling to protect the carts THEY OWN!

Study my previous post as there will be a pop quiz given in December! We all (plural for yall) do have a great time when not following a schedule and can all relax, aka, no homework! And just what do you mean your 50+ rig can't stop on a dime? Next time you need to order that option with your local dealer! :rotfl: :rotfl:

If that "stop on a dime" option was available I would have ordered it on the last few fire trucks and ambulances I spec'd at work. I didnt see it on the Chevy order form the last time either.
As for the pop quiz.....as long as skeeter has a few spare beers laying around I will be happy to try
