I tried to call CRO and I don't feel like giving my name, address, phone number, children's names, spouses name, mother-in-law's name, how many times I have visited the parks, what parks I have visited!

I only wanted to check availability.

They should already know most of the information they asked me for anyway!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Can't you just say that you do not want to give all of that information at this time as you are just checking rates?

I tried to do that and she just kept reading off a script that they had to have that info.

Not!

The last time I called, the only "extra" I was asked was how many times I had visited WDW. The CM actually apologized, "I know this is crazy, but my computer won't let me go any further until you tell me how many times you've visited here." All I was doing was trying to request a non-smoking room. At least that CM thought it was silly too. While I was actually sitting there trying to count in my head (don't ask me why! ), she said, "You know, just tell me a number above 4. :) " It was actually kinda funny.

I think the easiest way to check availability is to do it online.

I decline to agree... I just tried to get some quotes, and the old system would give you a good guesstimate (including codes) w/o logging in and giving other info (addr, phone, etc). I'm so annoyed with the new system....

I have to admit, it gets annoying hearing the "if you have visited at least 1 time since .... or at least this many time since blah, blah, press 1".... why exactly does that matter, by the way?

The saddest part is unless you are using an 800#, you are paying for the call! So with each question, your phone bill is going up! Plus it makes your wait time longer while they ask other guests all the questions! If they want to do it this way, they should provide everyone with an 800#.

Make something up for cryin out loud!! Tell 'em your Adolf Hitler from East Pitchfork Tennessee; and you're in the Parks seven days a month......if all the need is something to put in the computor, they now have it....and if they get enough stuff like that, they'll find another way to get their questions answered.:wave2: ::yes::

You know it's funny. I thought I was over the top when this bothered me on my last 2 trips. Way to much information on my life.
I actually had a CM ask me on a phone call. Oh I see Sarah usually travels with you she is not coming with you? I started to explain she couldn't miss school then I thought this is bizzarre. And just said No. I did not feel comfy in that conversation. Big Brother is watching!!!!

At least it looks like they are maintaining the info they have in their CRM databases a bit better though (recently at least). About 18 months ago when I called for trip ressies -- the CM confidently listed all of my family member's names. She was way off -- not even close -- the only one right was me. When we checked in -- they still had the wrong information. They had DS's name as my name, only 2 of my 3 other kids listed (and wrong) and a different name for my spouse. That last two trips they have been almost correct -- just missing one person. It can be helpful -- but it IS intrusive. One year we brought my niece along -- the next year we didn't. I felt like I was being interviewed about why she wasn't with us this time.

I also think it is ridiculous how many questions you have to answer before getting down to business.

Just recently used CRO to make reservations. My comment to the CM on the line was "Disney is better than the IRS." She laughed, but did agree. Amazing how much info they had on me, my visiting habits, etc. I'm a DVC member and have used CRO maybe TWO times (this time included)!

The long distance call charges to wade through those questions would bug me. :(

I can't be the only one who loves throwing them off their scripts and trying to make them laugh.:D

Every time I make a reservation at the California Grill and they're doing their little speech, I yell - "I know, I know!!! No tank tops!!!"
Then I ask if I can wear my tube top.

If I make another dinner reservation, say at San Angel at Epcot, I ask if I can wear my tank top there. Oh well, it amuses me.....

:o

I think it is ridiculous also. It really gets on my nerves to go through the entire que of questions before anything human answers. I've noticed that some questions cannot be answered before the machine finishes asking. I've gotten the questions down to a science and know what number I want to push but it won't let me! Ugh! I especially hate when the person answering the phone doesn't have a clue about anything and you end up hanging on the phone while they make mistake after mistake! My last phone bill showed a charge of $24 for one phone call to CRO! That was the time the CM kept screwing up the entire reservation. Needless to say I hang up now and call back until I find one that knows what they are doing.

Yes, not only do you have to answer all of the automated questions but then you have to answer the same questions from the CM!

Well, in that case I agree with you that that is rediculous.

sounds like there are still bugs in the Destination Disney programming.

I don't object a lot to all this but I could do without the editorial comments on the fact that I'm usually traveling alone. I wouldn't object to 'are you traveling by yourself?" "yes" but I had a couple of CRO CMs remark that they thought that was sad. That isn't necessary.

"How many times have you been to WDW" is adctually a tough question. Now I am smart and don't stop to think but rather guess.

I would make guesses for other questions to save time too.

And if you are just calling for information, say your children's names are easy names like John or Dick so you don't have to waste time spelling Emanuel or Augustine.

(copied from another post)
Bring your phone bill and ask for extra goodies, fast passes, etc.

One other idea, use a travel agent.

Disney hints:

When flying to Hawaii, often they pass out a questionnaire which includes "How many times have you been..." I guess the answer for that one also.
