Hi all! I haven't worked my way up to doing a full trip report yet, but wanted to give a brief synopsis of our trip to the World from 10/20-10/27.
DH and I are relatively new WDW enthusiasts, but this was our 4th trip in two years, so we've really hit the ground running! This time we went to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and for Food & Wine and MNSSHP, two things we've never done before and were excited to try.
The trip started off right when we were invited back to the new Fantasyland on our first night even though it was a cast member preview and other guests were being turned away. We had our anniversary buttons on and got some pixie dust! I loved everything I saw there and can't wait for the finished product.
MNSSHP was a lot of fun and the fireworks were spectacular. DH and I dressed up as Imagineers complete with construction helmets and safety vests. It got a lot of interaction from cast members, and even fooled a few! It really made the party fun and it's something I'd definitely do again, although I might wait until we are traveling with kids as the trick-or-treating and dance party weren't worth it for us.
Food and Wine though was definitely worth it for two childless adults! We went to F&W 4 of the 7 nights we were there and really enjoyed ourselves. We like the World Showcase anyway, but this added something special to it. It was quite crowded most nights as several states and England's schools are on their fall break and many people had made the trip from across the country and across the pond, but the breezy weather made it quite pleasant. The highlight of the trip was when we were invited by a cast member to sit in a reserved area to watch Illuminations and had the place practically to ourselves. The view was wonderful and it really put the icing on the cake.
Overall the park levels were high, but again, rope drop makes all the difference. We prefer to hit the parks early, stay for 3 or so hours then come back to the resort for rest/lunch/resort time and to head back to the parks in the evening. This strategy worked again and we never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride during our entire stay, and we hit all of the parks more than once.
After reading so many threads lately about the behavior of other park guests and cast members I was bracing myself to keep a sunny disposition despite bad attitudes, but I found that I really didn't need to. Overall I met some really wonderful and pleasant people and the cast members were friendly and helped make our experience great. I can't wait to head back in 130 days!
