So harping back to a recent thread on splash pads, I must admit I didn't see the problem with allowing the kids to play in them.

Until today.

Granted, this was in Fievels play area at Universal, but I was absolutely disgusted and horrified to see some crazy stupid woman drag her child, maybe 6-7, into the splash pools to wash off endless streams of diarrhoea from his legs!!!!!!!

It stank and went everywhere and the stupid mother just carried on. A CM then politely pointed them to the bathroom, closed off the area and called another CM to hand clean the area.

Seriously, I despair. I threw my soda away, I felt that sick. Needless to say, the playground was closed down and my kids won't go in them again!

omg that is horrible! so sorry u had to experience that, that was totally wrong for that woman to do that in a splash pad >.<

We'll move this to Universal as it is not part of WDW trip planning :)

Not a shock since people change kids on tables or wash them off in the water fountains.

Yeah pretty gross and that mother should know better.

Reminds me of the phone tap on the Elvis Duran shown in the mornings. Someone had left her baby's poopy diaper on the table in a restaurant, and didn't see a problem with it since it was rolled up! Gross

Exagerating a little, but I assume the splash pad looked a little like this when he was getting "washed"?

I think shame on the parent, because there are bathrooms literally 15 yards away. It must of been disgusting to see. Oh, and I seriously hope that kid had Pepto :lmao:

that would never happen at Disney;)jk i couldn't resist. There are clueless people everywhere with no regard for others.

OP oh so gross to have to witness this, please don't think that's the way we typically roll in the US:sad2:

People do nasty things like that everywhere nowadays. Many people are just basically disgusting and selfish unfortunately.

Sorry you witnessed that...obviously a desperate situation, I'll give her the benefit, and assume the Mom just panicked. As a parent of 5, I've had "similar" situations...and I'll just leave it at that. :rolleyes1 (never at a water park though).
Yup....we are a disgusting lot sometimes. Just count the number of dirty diapers in a Walmart parking lot on a Saturday afternoon.

I've noticed a real problem with folks ignoring illness while on vacation. Most of us, when we are home in our regular lives, will have kids (or ourselves) stay home and rest if there is fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, etc. While on vacation, they continue to push themselves and their kids to keep going to make the most of their vacation.

I know it is very disappointing to miss part of your vacation days, but it really is best for you AND everyone else to rest and recuperate at the hotel until you are feeling better.

I don't!

If a child is that sick, they need to be back in the room, with one or more parent actively taking care of him. With drugs like Pepto, you can effectively ignore the problem (if it works); if there are no symptoms, there's no illness, right? (answer = WRONG) I don't know why people want to act like Typhoid Mary, suppressing their symptoms and spreading germs everywhere... (it's one thing when you're contagious BEFORE you know you have something, that can't be helped and it's just part of life...but once you know? )

OP, your kids have played there before, and didn't get sick? I'd bet that we can be sure that this sort of thing has happened before. And you saw, first hand, that they see it, they stop it, they CLOSE it, and they clean it. They have no interest in keeping things dirty and disgusting, it's why they clean it so quickly. I know that seeing and not seeing are different things, but still, since you know they clean it, I don't see the reason to avoid the area from now on.

Everybody that looks to be sick with 'a bug' on vacation isn't. I agree with you regarding exposing other's to sickness, but over the years have seen adults and kids get off 'spinney' or agressive rides and vomit. Probably were feeling fine before hand, maybe had one too many snacks or the heat hit them, etc.:confused3It's gross all the way around but you can' blame them kwim?

Bringing the kid back to the hotel would obviously be a no-brainier.
