Absolutely disgusting.

I don't know you, and I am honestly trying to understand where you are coming from. You seem to be the only one-on this thread at least, viewing this as a racial issue. I don't really understand your quote about "rich spoiled white kids." It sounds like you have a lot of hatred towards people.

sorry, just saw this. If you read my other posts, I explained why I made that statement. The op understood.

I have hatred towards people? where are you getting that? seriously.

The people in 9/11 were not under these same circumstances. Were they without any food, water, shelter, communication and hope for 5 days? it's way too hard to compare these situations. and I'm not making light of 9/11, at all.

I'd like to think I'm not making excuses, I think we will just never know what's it like until we are in that situation. but I think it really bugs you guys that I don't think everyone is a thug. sorry. :confused3

and also, while I see that no one is agreeing with me on this board :rotfl: , I know there are others who agree with what I'm saying.

if i'm in this situation, and my mom is dying in front of me, stay away then, 'cause i'll punch you in the face and knock you down to get her help. sorry, but it's true. (maybe, I don't know, it's never happened to me, thank God)

The thing is, I do agree with you to a certain extent. Like you, I would do almost anything to save my family. I would resort to looting if necessary to feed my kids. (I would leave the plasma TV's and jeans behind, though) However (and this is where we don't agree) I wouldn't do anything that would endanger the lives of hundreds of thousands of others and actually put my kids in more danger. So, I would NOT shoot at rescue helicopters in order to "save" my children. It is stupid. It hurts my kids, myself and many others. I would not rape or kill others. I would not shoot a police officer or anyone else. How do I know this? Well, for starters, I wouldn't have grabbed my gun and ammunition to take to the shelter. I would have grabbed some jugs of water and a box of granola bars instead. My hands wouldn't be free to carry my gun! And yes, if I could afford ammo, I assume I could afford a few jugs of water and snacks.

I honestly hope I am wrong and you are right. I hope these are really good people that have let the stress get to them and this is their way of surviving. However, I just am not buying it right now. I certainly could understand tension, fist fights, etc. But some of the behavior is deplorable.

Yes, 9-11 was a different situation. However, those people were under considerable stress. Some in NO were looting before the winds stopped blowing. I understand the NO situation hasn't improved in days but some resorted to violence right after the storm hit. I don't recall that many problems immediately after 9-11.

thank you for trying to see my side and not insulting me, I appreciate it. And I do understand what you guys are saying. I hope to god I wouldn't resort to shooting someone. I just can't even fathom being in that situation.

peace. :)

I just read about a Spanish senator, her husband and son that were vacationing at NO. They were taken to the Convention Center, she reported about the chaos there, it was so bad that they had to move from the first floor to the third, even though it means that they probably won’t be evacuated. She’s asking the Spanish government to send for her and talks about the dead bodies, hunger, thirst and the fighting every time a truck carrying water arrives. The people inside feel abandoned, they have drop 4 trucks with water and that’s it. If you add to those conditions all the citizens that have (registered or not) weapons, it makes for a very volatile situation.

I’m no crybaby, but I couldn’t stop crying reading that article. It’s in Spanish, that’s why I don’t post the link.
