Absolute best timeshare in Disney vacinity?

If you had a timeshare where you could get in pretty much anywhere, where would you get the most bang for the buck? I've used Orange Lake before, very nice, wondering if there are places nicer than OLCC? TIA.

Through II -- DVC is the "best" but only if you can get a 1 or 2 BR. Our favorite resort is Old Key West, which I often see on II. We also would trade to Marriott Grande Vista or Marriott Cypress Harbour -- I usually see these on II, even for holiday weeks.

For RCI - Hilton Grand Vacation Club -not sure how hard they are to trade since we don't have RCI and have only rented from owners.

Honestly, the rest are all 2nd tier to us, but we are timeshare snobs now!

In RCI, you won't see Bonnet Creek---Wyndham controls all deposits, and they simply don't deposit it these days. There have been fewer HGVCs deposited recently, as well. Cypress Pointe seems to have more inventory in II than RCI, at least as far as I can tell.

The best bets in RCI, other than the Orange Lakes, are probably VV@Parkway and (if you can find it) the Houses at Summer Bay.

Based on my own searches, RCI's Orlando inventory just isn't what it used to be. II is a much better bet in terms of high-quality resorts. This is especially true if you are traveling during peak demand times, and are planning less than a year ahead.

We really enjoy Sheraton's Vistana Resort. They offer some great daily activites. The proximaty to Disney property is as close as you can get without being onsite.

If you've been to OLCC before I'm assuming that the exchange company is RCI. And for RCI resorts I'd suggest the Hiltons (there may be little inventory right now, but I believe that HGVC does a bulk deposit periodically and a whole lot becomes available), Cypress Pointe is nice, either of the Sheraton Vistanas and OLCC is always a very good option.

I agree with other posters that some of the very nicest resorts in the area are traded through Interval International. The DVCs and the Marriotts are top-notch resorts trading through II. And Cypress Pointe and Vistana Village are both really nice, too.

3 BR free-standing house with private heated pool on lanai. Especially good for Spring Break when weather might be too chilly to swim. For summer, not as big a benefit. IF you have younger kids, it's great. Full view of pool from living area, nice lanai with table, chairs. Kids can swim whenever they want (with adult supervision, of course). So, when you get back from the parks and you just want to veg and kids want to go swimming, you can start dinner, get a drink and veg while they swim---it was WONDERFUL!!
Plus, great BIG space, 2 masters and 3 bathrooms. Other amenities are OK--better for younger kids. OLCC amenities much better for teens.

What does this mean? Are we answering your question as you meant it? Are you asking, "If your timeshare could trade into anywhere you wanted, where would you go?" Or are you asking, "if you could buy any timeshare, which would you buy, for the best value on purchase money?"

Depends on what you mean by "nicer" - the rooms, the amenities, the resort experience? I'm not sure which section you had a OLCC. It's a large, spread out resort with tons of activities, golf, water sports, pools and recreation onsite and a shuttle van to take you around or you need to drive to some of them. There are quiet, recently refurbished condos around a golf course. There are high-rise buildings with elevators. Some are newer, some less so. Some people absolutely love the feel of the place. Others prefer a more compact resort where every room is close to a pool. Some think the rooms are deluxe, others find it less posh than they prefer elsewhere. What do you like? What do you want?

We love our timeshare and we've had many good trades in the area. With more info about your preferences, people could offer more suggestions. Tons of info from owners and exchangers, definitely worth the small membership fee.

Timeshares in Orlando are poor deals (although one could possibly make a good argument for the DVC). You can rent most properties, including the Sheratons, for less than what an owner is paying in maintenance fees.

Your theory holds very true during off season weeks, try renting for less than our maintenance fees during high demand holiday weeks.

That is the reason why we own those high demand weeks, so it costs us alot less to go to our own home resorts than the ones who rent them.
