My DF just bought an above ground pool, primarily for DM. Mom has severe pitting edema in her feet and degenerative disc disease so movement (walking, climbing, etc) is tough for her.

She s enjoying being able to move her legs in the water without pain. But, there's a small problem. Both dad and I are having to balance her ascent and descent in and out of the pool. I think what she really needs are some sort of steps instead of the ladder.

Any ideas out there on how to make this easier?

We just bought an above-ground pool, but we had a 2'-0" deep hole dug for it so it's only a couple feet out of the ground. We are building a deck now to the top of the pool wall.

Even at that, the plastic ladder that came with pool leaves a lot to be desired for strength. The pool vendor said that submerged steps are available for this type of pool, like those in the shallow end of most in-ground pools. I may have to check into that.

The ladder is difficult to use! We bought some tiered steps that were submerged in the water--and then we climbed out onto a deck. She'll LOVE the steps! The lady that sold them to me called them "wedding cake steps" if that makes it easier for you to visualize.:lmao:

Thanks!

I'll do a little research on the steps. I think she just wants to avoid anything too large; the pool's only 18' diameter :goodvibes

Of course, if she falls getting in...it's worth her giving up water!

We had those steps too. They were wonderful when the kids were little and could touch, but wanted to hang out in the water! I think they'd be wonderful for her mom.

That's what I'm thinking of. I'd like to have that in ours.
