I was just reading an ealier post about Worry Free Vacations. They offer a wonderful rate from DTW (Det) to Orlando! It is flying on Champion Airlines. Now, I've never heard of them and from what I understand, (called the phone # for worryfreevacations.com) and was told that you check in at the NW counter. Has anyone ever used them or had any experience with this airline before? Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks.

We used Champion Air last year and really like them. I would use them again but they are flying only certain days now. The service was good and they were pleasant employees. The planes are nice. We landed ahead of schedule!!! I can't say anything bad, only used them once.

Thanks MegansMom for the tip! Where at the airport did you check in if you don't mind my asking....I know they don't have a Champion Air counter!!!! Did you also book your vacation online?? Thanks again!

We went through a travel agent. I have heard that you check in at a NW station. We went through a charter airport in Minneapolis. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Worry Free Vacations is actually MLT Worry Free Vacations. They are a division of Northwest Airlines/World Vacations, which is why you check in at the Northwest/Champion desk. Due to the fact that this is a charter flight, your flight times are very restricted, the planes are smaller and you must arrive 1.5-2 hours before because this is when you actually receive your tickets. There are no E-Tickets or curb check-in available on Champion flights, and even though they are a division of Northwest, you are not eligible for Worldperks miles, but if finances are a concern, you will save some money. Don't expect to save tons of money though - I just received my weekly email from Worry Free, and the prices to Orlando are very close to Northwest's prices. We will not use Champion again because we basically lost a whole day because of the restricted flight schedules, and we love the convenience of E-Tickets and curbside baggage check-in. Here is the website: www.worrryfreevacations.com. This website is very user friendly, and there is also a phone number to call so you can check on flight prices. Good luck!

We paid $234.00 last year with Champion. I didn't think that was cheap but it was less than all of the others.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Helps alot. I was able to bring up a rate of 435.00 (something like that) for all 4 of us, with wonderful flying times if I was able to fly within 2 weeks. I think this would be a great alternative for any Detroit fliers if they were planning a last minute trip! I'm still working on less expensive airfare out of either Grand Rapids or Detroit and I saw an earlier thread with this websight listed so I was looking around and came up with these wonderful last minute flights! Made me want to plan a quick trip in 2 weeks!!! I was hesitating because of 1) never heard of Champion Air and 2) couldn't for the life of me figure out where to check in and 3) was hesitating not having either tickets or e-tickets in hand. Sounded too good to be true. Usually in that case, it is! Thanks again.
