We won't be arriving to the park until about 2 our first day, but want to do World of Color our first night. Will there still be fastpasses available at 2? It doesn't matter to me which showing. TIA!

What day will you be arriving? How many WOC shows are there on that day?

we are arriving Tues 6/12. There's a 9 & 10:15 showing...

You should be fine for the second showing at the very least. I wouldn't be surprised if the first showing was still available. You are there before DCA switches to opening early, so distribution of WOC FPs doesn't start until 9:30am. You are there before the craziness of Carsland, so there won't be a billion people there in front of you. You should be good! Enjoy! :goodvibes

Hooray! Thank you!:wave2:

I had the same question, but we will be there on July 1. Will I still be lucky enough to get FPs if I am there by noon? Also, will my kids be able to see anything or should I go for a dining package? I am tempted by the picnic deal because I don't really want to splurge on the more expensive one.

You should check out the WoC Superthread by Hydroguy: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717

But for more direct answers...

FPs should still be available at noon, although we're not sure what kind of crowds DCA will have this summer so you might be getting FP for the second WoC at that point. Not sure yet...

The picnic is no better than getting a FP. The picnic gives you a meal and a FP. Not a different FP than if you were to get one from the machines. Common misconception. This was helpful the summer that WoC came out because there were actual lines to get WoC FP but now there aren't. Only get it if you want the meal.

The dining package doesn't guarantee you a better spot, necessarily. There is just a specific area designated for only those who buy the dinner package. In order to see well, you'll still have to get there early enough to ensure a good spot within the "preferred dining section". The "preferred dining section" is at a good angle for the show, and you can get pretty close too, but don't assume that every spot in the "preferred dining section" is a good one. Remember, the show is standing-room only even for the dining package guests.

No matter what you decide, to make sure that you have a spot against a rail where you may be able to see better, you're looking at getting there 90+ min early. Maybe 60 if you get the dining package...save ya a half hour.

If I get the picnic deal for the food 1. Is the food any good? 2. Is there a spot to eat it while we wait in line for WoC so when we get there 90 minutes early, we're just using the time to eat anyway?

The food is a cold picnic lunch which didn't do much for me personally. Although others have said they like them well enough. There is a picnic area where you can eat them, but they are not part of the line. Unfortunately, the line is a standing line and I would find it difficult to eat in the line.

I would pay attention to these boards after June 15th to see the impact the crowds are having on WOC FP distribution and make my decision about picnics or not.

Good advice. Thanks.

If you're doing the picnic just to be able to reserve a FP without doing it in the park that day, i think it may be a waste of money. The first summer it was out, 2010, all the FP's were gone by 11 am, but that hasn't been the case for a long time. I've never not been able to get a pass--even in the evening on a Friday--of course it's usually for the 10:15 show. I don't know if CarsLand will change that but take ArchOwl's advice and watch the boards to see if it changes.
