I have seen a couple posts suggesting that the trundle beds leave a lot to be desired. For those of you that have put 5 people in POR, how did the beds work? We were thinking of putting a 5 or 7 year old in the trundle

Thanks!

I don't have any first hand knowledge, but when I asked this question a while back, most of the answers indicated it was ok for a small child, but not an older/and or bigger one.

Slept in one myself (5'3") two nights when DS3 climbed into bed w/ DH and me!! I actually thought it was very comfortable. I'm sure either the 5 or 7 yr old would love it.

our family's experience was that the trundle was horrible.

my (then) 6 year old didn't say anything, because she didn't want to complain because she was "so happy to be in Disney World" but she didn't get any sleep on it at all. It is basically a board, 2 inches off the floor with a shallow "Mattress" on it. She said she almost just climbed off and slept on the floor, I was horrified she didn't just get into bed with us (another family member was in the second queen bed).

She always asks me now when I book, "Mom do i have to sleep in the weird bed?" i promise her no. we lasted that one night in the trundle bed room and actually ended up changing resorts so she could have a bed.

again, this was just our personal experience...maybe your child may not mind it. but mine couldn't sleep at all on it and i wish they'd just bring back roll away beds.

Last time we used the trundle my son was 15 & he slept on it so his sisters could sleep in the bed together. He had no problems...there was one night that he fell asleep on the bed next to my husband so I slept on it.. I am 5"6 & had no problems... I wouldn't sleep on it for an extended stay but for a few nights wouldn't be bad... so in your situation...there should be no problems at all:wave2:

My grandson (then 6) used it during a week stay at Dixie Landing (POR) and he was fine with it. Of course, they only have full size beds at POR so you can barely squeeze 2 in each of them. Our only concern is that a responsible person should be sleeping in the bed associated with the trundle bed so they remember when they get up, not to step on the person below. We did have a little problem with some of our late night family members coming in after a night at PI and cracking their toes on the bed....OUCH! As for sleeping, never heard a complaint. Is POR/Dixie still the only resort that offers them? Since GeekChic mentioned that their trundle bed was under a Queen bed, was wondering what resort they were staying at??

I'm sorry, that was an error, they were double beds. The room we stayed in was PORS in Alligator Bayou.

Just make sure the kids use them and not you. My DD was supposed to use it but didn't want to "sleep on the floor". I ended up sleeping in it at POR. I WILL NEVER SLEEP IN A DRAWER AGAIN !:(

Thanks for all the replies. We are currently leaning toward getting two rooms at a value instead. It is only 20 bucks more for our entire stay to get two rooms and there would be the advantages of enough sleeping space and 2 bathrooms.

Thanks!
