First ?
Tell me if I have this right, for a transfer of points from one dvc member to another. If I purchase points from a member to have put in my account, I would have to give my member number to the person doing the transfer( is this wise) and they would call MS and take care of the transfer. I would then call at the 11 month window(if the transfer came from SSR my home resort) and make my reservation, 7 months any other dvc resort.

2nd?
What if I purchased the points from another member and had them book the reservation. After they sent me the reservation could I then link those day's to an existing reservation? Would I then still be required to give my member number to the other member to make the transaction? The resevation would then come with the name of the person staying in the room.

Thanks in advance for any and all Help. Still learning DVC member  . Susan

Transfers are allowed though not for a price. DVC does not enforce this though. You certainly can have the other member reserve as a renter then link to your reservation. As long as it's the same unit type and resort, you won't have to move units.

Hi Susan,
To do a transfer, you only need the persons DVC number. When you make a reservation now, they ask for the last 4 digits of your SS number as well as your address. If you do not provide the last 4 digits of your SS # and only the DVC number it should be perfectly safe. Once the points are in your account, they are yours to keep, no matter what and can't be taken back by the seller. If if the seller makes a reservation for you, they still own the reservation no matter what and can change or cancel it if they wish - this is a worst case scenario, most likely not a problem with people on this board.

You don't need to give your DVC number to anyone making a reservation in your name.

Thanks Dean and aabatang. I may need points for my December reservation if I decide to extend my stay and just wanted to get a little info before I venture into that direction. Your post's were very helpfull. Susan
