I'm trying to decide between keeping my room only discount or switching to the families with little ones promo. For the seven nights we're there, adding the QS dining plan using the new promo adds $450.11 to the total price. My math says it's worth it vs OOP, but I want to run it by you all first to check if my estimates makes sense...

3 adults, 1 child (7 years old), 7 nights. That would be...

42 adult QS meals (3 adults * 2 meals per night * 7 nights)
14 child QS meals, where applicable (1 child * 2 meals per night * 7 nights)
28 snacks (4 people * 1 snack per night * 7 nights)
4 mugs (for whatever that's worth)
$9.00 avg adult QS entree
$2.50 avg adult QS drink
$6.00 avg child QS meal (includes drink)
$3.00 avg snack

Assuming we use all the credits...

42 * ($9.00 + $2.50) = $483.00
14 * $6.00 = $84.00
28 * $3.00 = $84.00
Total = $651.00

Does that sound about right? $450.11 for roughly $651.00 worth of food? Am I leaving anything out that might favor keeping the room only discount?

Unless you go through each QS place you feel like eating at, looking at current menus and figuring out exactly what you think you might want to eat, and then adding it all up, it's hard to say exactly what you'd spend OOP vs. what the dining plan would cost you. But I tend to think that your estimates are LOW as I think that most QS places are going to be more money than $9, especially when you add in dessert and tax.

So, yeah, I think that $450 for 7 days worth of dining is a really good deal. We eat one QS and one TS a day plus a snack or a drink, and I roughly budget about $250 per day for our family of 5 (two adults, and three kids, 12, 10, 7) for our meals.

Yes, I think it's worthwhile to change to the "little ones" promo. $450 for 7 days worth of meals for 3 adults and 1 child is a great price. It's only $64 per day for 2 meals and 4 snacks. I don't think you could feed your family at WDW for less than that! We are a family of 3 Disney Adults and we usually spend more than $30 on CS meals (and we never buy desserts).

Oh yeah! Thanks! I forgot about tax and desserts. And even though we don't eat desserts that often, that's still a plus for the dining plan switch. I think I will be calling them this afternoon. ;)

I'm on the phone with 'em now. They're scrambling trying to find what promo code it is. They're claiming it's the first they've heard of the Families with Little Ones offer. Weird... :confused3

I am amazed at how much more DISboard members know than the CMs.

Apparently, you have to refer to it as the "Intro to Disney" offer. The website must be the only place they call it "Families with Little Ones". The CM's supervisor had to look it up on the website. The CM was very nice, though. I kinda felt sorry for him.

I'm glad you were able to get it figured out!
