AHH!!! He proposed tonight!!! It was so perfect.. I know he was planning some big to-do for the end of October, but I guess he wasn't going to be able to pull it off so he improvised! Tonight he said we should go for a nice dinner.. and he gave me a look and I totally knew that's what he had in mind. So after 20 minutes on the phone with the NICEST DRC lady, we got a reservation at Portabellos at DTD. (We're local to Orlando). I had never been there, but I've always heard good things about it. The whole time after we sat down, everytime he would fidget I would freeze and stare at him.
Finally after our appetizer, he calmly got up and knelt down next to me and, oh god, I don't even remember what he said! LOL omg I was concentrating on trying not to cry! After I said yes and kissed him, everyone at the restaurant clapped (I had forgotten anyone else was there!) and he put the ring on my finger. It's absolutely GORGEOUS!! He picked it out all by himself and it's perfect! It's a white gold princess cut leo diamond, I'd say between 3/4 and 1 carot and it sparkles like nothing I've ever seen before!
After he got back to his seat and composed himself, I heard the couple at the table next to us ask what we were drinking, and the waitress said coke. The guy was like 'What?! You have to get a drink and celebrate!!!" and he bought us two glasses of champagne! Then about 5 minutes lady, an older lady with an anniversary button came over and said she saw what happened and said congrats! They were in town celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary. She slipped me a bill and said to make sure to get some dessert, and winked at us. How generous, I thought, for her to give us a $5 or $10 or something. I got a better look at it as I put it in my purse and she had given us a $50!! I seriously couldn't believe their generousity!!
Then a little while later, our waitress, who I think may have been more excited than I was, brought us over a piece of AMAZING chocolate cake that had "congratulations" written on the plate in chocolate and said it was on the house. She also asked if we had a camera, and we said no, that we hadn't really thought to bring one. A few minutes later she came back with a camera and the bill, and said it was her manager's camera and to write our email addresses on the bill and she would send us a picture! She was so sweet.
After all that.. I said we absolutely HAD to get buttons!!! He had no idea what I meant, so we walked down to guest relations and I got us the "Just Engaged" buttons. He said perhaps he should have just proposed with the button, given how excited I was over wearing it, lol.
All in all, it was pretty perfect
