? about the steaks at Teppanyaki

Can anyone tell me what the steaks at Teppanyaki are like? I'm specifically wondering if they are cooked or served with any kind of oriental seasonings or sauce. My DH doesn't eat any kind of oriental food but I would love to eat at Teppanyaki. He might go for it if he knew he could get a good steak, tho. Thanks in advance.

What they do is cut it up in bite size pieces and grill it on the teppan grill right in front of you. It isn't like a big old steak. So if that is what he is looking for, I would go elsewhere (like LeCellier). There is some spice on it but very bland. I didn't notice the taste but my girls didn't like it (and they like the yakitori chicken next door). The chef did sprinkle something on the meats so maybe that was it? It looked like a big salt shaker. You could maybe ask him not to add it to your DHs meat?? My DH upgraded his steak to the beef tenderloin from the regular sirloin steak and said it was worth the upgrade. It was definitely a better cut of meat. We (the adults) thought it was YUUMMY! The kids thought the place was fun (and want to go back) but they really only picked at their food.

I'm not a big sauce on a steak fan either. In fact at California Grill I thought the filet was done to perfection and tender, but the tamarind glaze was a bit "much" for me. I would have preferred it with either less or without. That being said, I LOVED the tenderloin at Teppanyaki and I didn't notice an odd taste or sauce on it just really good beef. Just my opinion though.

I forgot to mention also that the meal came with 2 different dipping sauces in two little bowls. But it was not poured over the meat at all.

I think one may have been a hot mustard type sauce (don't really know because I hate mustard) and the other a teriyaki or soy sauce.
