:wave2: Hi again,
Just wanted to give an update and some advice.

Well it was Sept. 20 when I sent them Express post, still haven't got them back yet. There was a charge on my credit card for 3 out of 4 applications on Oct 13. On Monday oct 31 I had a phone call from the "Inquiry Office" letting me know the expiry date on my card has expired. I said thanks, but Passport Canada already charged my credit card his reply was "oo". So he said he'll fix it and send it back over to the other department for final exceptance.

As for my expiry date it was 09/05 when I applied and I didn't get my new card till Sept 28, guess I should have waited.

Now for my DD application... she will turn 16 on Nov 16, so I was told to apply for her as a child on or before Nov 16. Oct 26 I got her documents and application back. Reason "Long Form Birth Certificate" required. (never heard of this  ) so I called PC and the guy was really rude!!! So now I need one of these because my DD was born before DH & I were married! Now I'm starting to sweat as time is counting down. So I order the certificate$37, it comes back saying requires name amendment for another $20 I have to fix one letter in DH middle name as it doesn't match his Birth Certificate. :bitelip: Ok fine BUT to do this we need a copy of his Birth Certificate, where's that... somewhere @ Passport Canada(AHHHH!!!! :badpc: ) That could take up to 10 days to order him a new BC for a charge of $25. We have now decided to make a trip to Calgary and take hers into the registry office and we will wait till her b day and just apply as an adult. This way we will at least have her BC incase the passport doesn't come in time to get to WDW!
Anyways just wanted to vent and share that with you. :sunny:

We had to do the long form BC for our oldest DD as she was born 2 years before we got married what a pain that was but atleast we have it done and after we got it back we just went to the passport office submitted it and had her passport back in 5 days yes 5 days I was amazed at that one.

Did you know about the long form? I couldn't find that in the instructions anywhere. That's great you got them back so soon! :goodvibes

The child's application says "long form birth certificate MAY be required". Based on experiences of people on these boards, it appears that they are demanding them if parents had different last names when the child was born. :confused3 I have a friend who recently had a child and they are not married, so I told her when ordering the BC, to make sure she orders the long-form one because at some point in this kids life they will need it and it will be a bigger pain later than now. She said she never would have even considered ordering the long-form one if I hadn't told her about this. I think that the provincial govt should just make it mandatory that when ordering BC's for newborns, that you pay a price and get both formats. It would certainly alleviate many future problems as passports become mandatory to have.

Sorry this is such a mess for you. We're lucky to have a passport office right here in London so I had mine back a week after submitting them, and they didn't keep the BC's, just verified them and gave them back to me.

We got to thje passport office and the lady at the desk told us we needed it so we got 4 of the 5 done and had to send away for the long form BC. Once it finally showed up almost 3 weeks later we wnet back and did her passport but we had a feeling we would need it but just hoped that we could get by without it.

Sorry - OT - but when will Canadians HAVE to have passports to enter the US?
Last year just the kids had them and DH and I used our birth cert and drivers license. We had no problems. I assume this December will be the same????
Thank you

You'll need a passport in December 2006 to fly to the US and in December 2007 to drive to the US.
