Okay, I've read about these numerous times and it sounds like a great idea, but I have no idea what they look like or where to buy one. Any help would be much appreciated.

You can find these at WalMart, Target, etc dept stores. They are just the clear plastic slotted shoe holders. You would find them in the area of laundry racks, hangers, organizers, etc. We were so glad to have learned that tip :)

We just got back and that was probably the best tip! The bathrooms are TINY! (think airplane) It was so convenient to be able to just grab your stuff without digging around in your bag.

I have a picture of one of these on my website. I think it is on the page titled 'secret porthole rooms'. My site is linked below.
:)

I got mine at Walmart for under 3.50 if i remember right. It was over by the plastic storage stuff.

:p I have to chuckle, because I went CRAZY the last week of the cruise trying to find an over-the-door shoe holder. I thought it sounded like a great tip, just like the many others I learned here.

Well, I found one, and it is still in the original package, unopened!:p I never found a need for it! I thought the split bathrooms were very convenient - my husband used the sink in the bathtub room and DD7 & I used the other! There were shelves in my bathroom and I was able to store my toiletries bag and makeup bag there.

We packed SO much STUFF - I remember my husband holding up the shoe bag and asking, "And this is for.....???"! Next cruise, we're taking HALF the amount of STUFF!!:D

I bought one last year but found that on the new ships you don't need them. They already have so much storage space built in. If you are going on an older ship you might need one.

We brought and were glad we had. It came in very handy for hairbrushes, sunscreen, toothbrushes, etc. - the little stuff that tends to clutter. In a small space like the cabins are it drives me nuts to have all of the little stuff sitting around everywhere. We put ours on the outside of the 'shower room' door. It was nice to be able to get at something while someone was using the bath rooms. The shoe holder does not take up that much room in your luggage. Some people have said they even leave them in the cabin at the end of the cruise.

my DH could not understand why we needed it, but after the first 10 minutes thought it was the best thing we brought with us! it worked great for holding everything! don't leave home without one! (btw--we left it behind when we left)

I used the hanger thingy for stuff like camera film, suntan lotion, binoculars, mini flashlight, sewing kit, band-aids, etc. I actually put the stuff in there when I packed and then all I had to do was unpack it and hang on the door.

The picture posted was just like the one I got at WalMart.

I almost paniced when I realized I had left mine at home... only to find out that I never needed it...

Not sure what was meant about "older" ships as the the Wonder is newer, but all the storage in our Cat. 11 bathroom was a small glass shelf above the sink and then a tiny ledge in the tub for shampoo, razors, etc.. We had 2 adults and 2 kids and found it a necessity for us. We even kept separate rows for each of us to be organized. The girls had body glitter, hair barrettes, toothbrushes/paste, etc.. and my husband kept his cologne, shaving stuff, deod in his and of course the rest were mine!:p I had brushes, hair dryer, curling irons, gel, contact gear, glasses, skin care products, and much more. For as cheap as it was, it's well worth it. We'll probably take it with us on other stays as well. Now my parents didn't opt to bring one and they got along, but could see where it would have been useful. I think the more kids with you, the more you need it.

Well, I haven't been on the Disney ship yet so I don't know, but the Zenith, Voyager of the Seas and Golden Princess all had more storage than we needed...shelving behind mirrors, etc.

Daltonsdodisney...you must be my twin!:D When I read your post, I said, "that's exactly what ours was":D Also, pockets for sunscreen, aloe, pepto, allergy meds(never know what might set off an attack) little bracelets for my dd, retainers....gosh, if all that stuff was on the little shelf, or on the desk, we would have driven each other crazy with the clutter.......I'm glad we brought all that little stuff, it's the clothes I would have packed less of!

"It's in the shoe holder." I'd have paid for the cruise (LOL).

Ours had
Top Row: Medicines, bandaids, disposable cameras, anything I didn't want the kids to get!
Next Row: Sunscreen, aloe vera gel, grown ups deodorants, etc.
Third Row: Chap stick, gum (which you can't get on the ship), sunglasses, swim goggles
Last two rows: Fanny packs, lanyards (with key to the world cards), kids club pages, etc.

If it was something little that I knew we'd want to grab quickly, it went in the shoe holder! best thing we took!
