? about the famous DL candy canes

We are headed to DL for our first trip in November. I was watching food network and they had a special about the famous candy canes that are only made in DL. Can you tell me where to go and how to get one? Also do you have to eat it or is it wrapped up for traveling?

They are at the Candy Palace: call the Disneyland Candy Hotline (714-781-0112) to see when they will be available. The hotline gives upcoming treats for the next week.

The candy canes are very popular, and because of how they are made and the conditions the candy makers have to work in, they are done in small batches . I think the first day they make them usually is the day after Thanksgiving. They will then make them several days between then and Christmas. The OP who referenced the candy line gave you good advice. You should call it just before your trip to find out if the candy canes will be made during your visit. The candy canes are wrapped so no need to eat it immediately if you are lucky enough to be able to purchase one. I didn't actually want to buy any of them last year, but I watched the line build and the CMs hand out the tickets to purchase them on the day after Thanksgiving. The park gates opened at 8:00 AM; by 8:15, they had handed out the last candy cane ticket for the day. Each person who has a ticket is allowed to come back later in the day when the candy canes are finished and purchase up to 2.

We go every year the week after Thanksgiving. The two days that they were making candy canes they had passed out all the tickets for the day by the time we got there (about an hour after the park opened). With four small children we prefer to take a slow and steady pace to our day and not start the day in a big rush. But this year I plan on getting there 1st thing! Fingers crossed we get there in time

Don't forget to check out the Disneyland at Christmas Time Superthread, as the subject of candy canes has come up a lot. You can always do a Search This Thread function for "candy canes" while you're in the Superthread and see what comes up. The first 3 posts on Page 1 of the Superthread have tons of info!. I even have a whole category just for the Candy Canes in this specific post (look under the Blogs heading, too, for Nancy's piece about Guy Fieri). In fact, I actually have some additional links with more info about the candy canes to add to the Candy Cane category, which I suppose I will do today.

Most likely, the candy kitchen hotline phone number will not announce the dates for when the candy canes will be made until a few days after the season begins, based on when the schedule came out last year. The holiday season begins on Monday, November 14, this year. I would expect that the candy kitchen hotline will anounce the candy cane schedule by 11/17 or 11/18, at the latest.
