We're going there this wknd and i'm so excited!! We're bringing the inlaws, and are staying in a 2 bdrm villa. At an unoffical disney site(i forget now which one),it says that some 2 bdrm villas are "dedicated" villas, meaning they're a true 2 bdrm. It says that some are "undedicated',meaning they're actually a 1 bdrm villa that connects to a studio.(technically giving you a 2 bdrm.) I called disney, and requested a dedicated unit. I called back again today to double check, and they said my ressie said i wanted an undedicated one. Well,by this time,i was confused and forgot which was which. The gal didn't seem to know. I was transferred to a Grand Gathering rep,who said a 2 bdrm was a 2 bdrm. That they don't do a 1 bdrm/studio and call it a 2 bdrm. For the first 1/2 of the conversation, she said they didn't connect any rooms,,then she did say that yes, they can connect a 1 bdrm and a studio. But that the site i had looked at was WRONG. that they do NOT connect a 1bdrm and a studio and book it as a 2bdrm.Does anyone know?? Has anyone booked a 2 bdrm at OKW and gotten a 1 bdrm that connects w/a studio? I suppose its not a big deal,,but i would like a true 2 bdrm. Was the site i saw wrong??

OKW has both dedicated and lock-off two-bedroom units.

The difference, other than the lockable door between the studio unit and the living room, will be that the "studio" portion will have the microwave and small fridge, as well as its own entrance.

I belive you lose a closet in this configuration - but you still have plenty of storage space.

Either way - at OKW - you'll still have two beds in the studio unit.

What is it that concerns you about the lockoff configuration?

I agree with Beth...it really doesn't matter much...if you get one of the lock off units the bedroom with 2 queen beds has an extra sink outside the bathroom...handy but not essential. It is pretty unlikely that you will get a lock off unit. There aren't too many of them. We have made 2 trips per year to old Key West since 96 always in a 2 Bedroom and we have never gotten a lock off unit except for the one time we requested one... we had my 20 something age neices with us and the seperate entrance was nice so they didn't wake up the kids sleeping on the sofa bed when they came in late every night.
I wouldn't worry much about it either way. Have a great trip.

Are your inlaws taking the seocnd bedroom? Maybe they would like a separate entrance and the kitchenette in their room (coffee maker, microwave, small fridge) with a lockoff. A dedicated does not have the kitchenette in the second bedroom. Dedicated or lockoff isn't really a "request", rooms are reserved one way or the other.

We stayed in a dedicated 2 bdrm. There was no microwave or refrigerator in the 2nd bedrm. I was quite happy with that as we didnt need them, and we were more concerned with location. We got a unit near the main pool which was great:D

Hi DisneyMin from DisneyMim!! Just wanted to add my 2 cents. We've been members since DVC opened in 1991 and have almost always stayed in a 2 bedroom. Never had a non-dedicated 2 bedroom. I think you will really enjoy OKW, the units are very spacious, and you won't feel crowded with your relatives.

Enjoy OKW and Have a Woncerful Vacation!!!
