Thinking about booking a flight on Southwest for SIL, BIL and niece, but have two questions.

I know that N/S means it is a direct flight. If the flight is listed as having one stop, but doesn't name another airport - does that mean they stop somewhere but don't change planes (and not have to worry about the whole A B C thing again)? And, is it lists another airport, like TPA/1 for example, does that mean they would have to change planes in Tampa?

Also, do you think there will be any issues with them being able to preboard with a 22 month old going from Manchester to Ft. Lauderdale?

Since we're paying for the flights, I want to get them here as cheaply as possible but not if they have to deal with changing planes with the group boarding thing.

I am not sure of the TPA/1 as far as a stop and note getting off the plane but they would get first boarding with a 22 month old. I called for our trip with a 3 YO and this applies up to 4 YO's I would also think that if you needed to change planes they would seat the changing plane first but this may be wishful thinking LOL.
Hope this helps a little, You may also try calling Southwest and asking your questions. I did not have any problems when I called. The person was nice and answered everything I could think of. :earsboy:

Looking at your route, what SW is telling you is where you change planes

So for example, on the flight that leaves at 2:30 you would fly flight 1100 to TPA and then change to 575 arrving in FLL at 7:20 If there is only one flight number with a number in the stops field that means you do stop, but don't change planes.

You would preboard, but... there is always the issue that if your first flight is a few mintues late they may already be boarding when you get there for the second flight. SW tends to schedule tight!

Ok, that's what I thought. If I do decide to go Southwest I will book a flight that doesn't involve changing planes. I don't want them scattered around the plane, especially since it will be BIL first plane trip.

Thanks for the info.

If SW lists an airport with the number it is a plane change. Just a number means a stop where you are continuing, on that plane.

BWI/1 means changing planes at Baltimore, 1 means that you are stopping in Philly (for example) and continuing on in that plane after picking up pax there.
