hi,
we will be staying at the boardwalk villas in December, this is my question, my son is 5 and learning to swim, he is very comfortable in the pool with the swimmies on his arms.
would he be allowed down the slide wearing them?? any information would really be great.
thanks
lisa

Lisa,

Your son, will not have a problem using his swimmies on the slide at the BW, or any other pool at WDW.

Have a great time!

just wanted to take a moment and say thanks, cant wait, and i know he will have a ball..

At Wilderness Lodge, Port Orleans Riverside and Typhoon Lagoon we were told by Lifeguards we could not use our own devices and they made us use their "ski jackets". At the hotels we had to check them out at the marina. May be different rules now, been a few years but they were very strict with us.

Either way it shouldn't restrict his fun !

At SAB you can't use any type of flotation device on the slide. You must be able to swim away from the bottom without assistance, and no one can wait at the bottom for you.

We were told that you couldn't wear any type of floatation device other than the life jackets provided by WDW at the pools.

My Daughter, who was 5, was allowed to wear the jacket down the slide at the Poly and the AKL.

My suggestion would be to call your resort and verify.

Welcome to the DIS!!

This may be the case with the bigger slide at SAB but my 3yr old was aloud to use the smaller slide (the one at the back of the ship for the smaller kids) with his swimmies on;)

As for at the resort pools themselves --
ask the life guard on duty. Some pools like at SAB we were told no problem to use your own tube or floaties, OKW we actually bought our ds one of those small ring tubes to use right there at the general store in OKW but we went pool hopping to the GF one day (we're DVC members) and the life guard there said that we couldn't use that same ring tube at their pool. So it must vary from resort to resort.

I was referring to the big slide. The small one is only about three or four feet long, and lands in maybe a foot of water, so I don't think you'd need any type of devide anyhow to use that one. :)
