It's been a while since I've made room reservations and I'm afraid i'm not very familiar with the policies. I know that they have you put down the first night's stay as a deposit, and you can pay the rest when you arrive or check out.

This may be a bit of a dumb question, but humor me please  My question is, what if I have to change the dates, but we will still be staying at at SOG? I ask because I really want to make room reservations now for our trip at the end of this month 4/26- 4/29. But DH won't know for sure his leave dates until next week (or maybe even later, with the Navy you never know! :sad2: ). So can I reserve those rooms and put down the deposit now? Or should I just wait? If we change the dates, will we lose that deposit? I haven't been able to find a cancellation policy on their website.

I looked at mine and they say if you cancel or change the dates of stay then you loose the deposit. Might want to give them a call to see if they can be more flexible for you.

30 day change/cancellation policy cancel or change within 30 days and forefit your deposit. Kinda stinks, I'd wait if I were you.

This is directly from my reservation confirmation:

Now, you might want to call them directly and ask, because we changed our dates last year and weren't sure of our new dates, but called to ensure that the deposit would still be a credit toward a future stay. Knowing how very different answers can be from them, I'd try to get something in writing, if I were you, but I'm pretty sure they'll be flexible. They're not trying to take money from you, just trying to insure that they aren't overbooked with people who cancel at the last minute.

Oh, and I was told that if your orders change, they WILL refund the deposit. I've never seen it in writing, but that's worth asking as well.

HTH!

I always booked some time on each side of the reservation and adjusted it to what suited us when we knew for sure what we needed. The reservation person said alot of people do this.

If orders change, yes, they will refund, however you will need to fax or mail a copy of the orders.

If I were the OP, I would probably try to make a ressy in overflow. That way, you'll have something. Then, if it turns out you really can go, call back and see if SoG is available. If they are, great, have the agent cancel the overflow and take your ressy at SoG. If not, you still have a ressy at Disney (or wherever) and you can keep trying for SoG.

As with ANY reservation you make, write down the date, time and with whom you spoke and what you were told. The agent will not be offended if you ask him or her to wait a sec while you jot down what they told you. You have no idea how many times people would call back to complain something is wrong and that "someone" told them this is how it would be. Without a name and a date, your complaint does not hold much water. :)

Thanks everyone! I will give them a call and see if they can be flexible. If not, then I will have to wait and cross my fingers that there are still rooms. After all the great reviews on SOG, we are so looking forward to staying there.
