My question is how does this work or can it? You rebook onboard and get the $200 room credit for a 7 night cruise. Then I understand when you get home you can transfer the reservation to the Travel Agent that you are most comfortable with......but what if the rate you got on board is more than the rate your TA has when you go to transfer, do you get the lower rate and do you get to keep the room credit.....Also what happens when you are a Florida Resident and your reservation qualifies for the Resident discount, do you still get to keep the $200 room credit or does that go away because you are getting Resident rates or what. We are sailing in Sept of this year and want to book 3-4 cabins onboard for a 2005 cruise but if I don't get the room credit cause of being a resident of florida, then why should I wait to rebook onboard. Hope that made sense to somebody out there and somebody can help me with this......Thanks in advance:confused:

It's one or the other but not both.

I don't use a travel agent but DCL will not honor both a Florida Resident Rate and an onboad-booking credit.

I have read that some individuals book onboard, secure the credit, and then transfer the booking to a TA who offers a lower rate (not a FL Resident Rate) than what they obtained onboard. However, having checked with a few different TAs I have never been able to obtain a better rate than the ones offered to Florida residents.

We usually book onboard, secure the credit, and then wait to see if Fl Resident Rates are offered. If they are, we usually save money by forgoing the onboard credit and going with the FL Resident Rate.

That's exactly what we do. Rebook onboard (we must have a date to countdown to before we disembark), then watch the FL Resident rates - if the saving is greater than the credit, we of course switch.

Good Luck,
Dawn Hope

Re-booking onboard will also reserve your room and dining seating(early vs.late). You must make the switch BEFORE you make your final payment. Right now we have only made our deposit(onboard) and we are anxiously awaiting May/June rates to try to switch. Florida Residents Rates are not definitely offered at all times.
Fingers-Crossed.
