? about pts from multiple resorts

We are starting to think about adding on points. We own at Boardwalk and intend to use a Grand Villa there every 2 to 3 years. My DH wants to know if we have to use SOME points from other resorts to apply to this reservation, can you still book at 11 months out? Or do you have to wait until 7 months out if ALL the points are not from BWV? I told him I think the latter, but he never believes me! I wish he were right, but as usual I don't think he is! Anyway, I know we couldn't reserve the GV at 7 months out, so buying pts from another resort won't be an option if I'm right.

It may be speculation, but that's okay. Will the Contemporary DVC have Grand Villas? If so we may wait for that, and just buy a big contract there and use our BWV for alternate stays.

You are correct. Only BWV points can be used to make a BWV reservation before the 7 month window opens. If you need to use points from another DVC resort to complete a BWV GV reservation, you will have to wait until the 7 month window opens and hope there is still availability for what you want.

With so few GV at BWV, finding availability at seven months would be extremely rare.

I have 2 contracts and you definitely need to wait until the 7 month window to use the other contract.

The way I get around this is I allocate certain contracts for certain things. I try to do all of my DL stays off my smaller VB contract and then bank or borrow to get what I need for WDW from the OKW one. Sometimes they blend, but otherwise it seems to be a good pattern for us.

My advice - If you don't want to deal with this, definitely add another BWV contract. If you choose a 2nd home resort, just make sure to allot for enough points to allow for the 11 month booking window for the largest accomodation you want to have.

The 2 story openings at the top of the Contemporary construction sure look like 2 Story DVC Grand Villa living rooms
