Does anyone know the height of the big drop in that ride?

I am a chicken for big drops or fast rides, and whenever I see that talking skull in POTC I start to hyperventilate (see, I said I was a chicken for drops) and would love to know if I it is a mere 10 inches flume or 10 feet one, lol.

I would say it's no bigger than about six feet. It goes by quickly.

On the allearsnet.com website, it is reported that the drop is 14 feet. I don't think it feels that far. Just hang on and enjoy the ride. . . It's tons of fun!

I'm not sure of the size of the drop, but it's nothing. My kids are the biggest chickens (the TTA is like a roller coaster to them...lol), and they will ride Pirates. This is a must-see ride, so don't let the small drop deter you from it. BTW, my ds rode Pirates when he was 15 months old.

Wow, 14 feet is like 4.20 m., no wonder my hearts stops in there, I will do the responsible thing and avoid the ride, I don´t want to be the next death at Disney from a cardiac arrest in POTC!!! At least when I used to do it I wasn´t a mother, so I could take risks, lol.

The drop is 14 feet but it's a very gentle, sloping 14 feet. Like walking down a ramp.

I think it feels 14 feet. However, it's not bad at all. I hate rollercoaster type "big" drops. However, I really think the one on POTC if "funny".

When we went on this ride last spring I had never read anywhere about the drop and although I thought I had gone on it quite a few years ago the drop did not stick in my memory. Let me say I had a few moments of panic (ok, sheer terror) when I saw the boat in front of ours slow down and prepare for and then go down the drop. I absolutley hate drops of any sort!! But I did survive and it was not as bad as I thought it could be. I actually came close to enjoying the thrill aspect of it (yes, I am a ride whimp). Will I return to this?---that is a big question I have not yet answered. I think that if everyone wants to go on it I will and I will live to tell about it. I will probably be nervous as all get out for the whole ride but being prepared is better than being surprised! My two year old was on this with us (thankfully sitting next to her dad so she did not feel my fear!) and was happy as a clam!!
