? about parking at BW

My son and friend will be staying at Boardwalk in November (on points). They want to use their phones for room entry, ticket media etc. How does this work with parking? They will do online check in, but I told him they will still have to visit the front desk to register their car since there isn't anyplace in online check in to do that. But they are wondering how to access the parking lot without magic bands or key to the world cards. It's been a long time since I had a car on vacation.

You don’t need to register the car. Not sure about the gate. I personally would ask for a key card rather than fooling around with my phone at the gate. Keep it in the car.

I always stop at the guard shack on checkin day, give name, etc, and are able to park. Mostly we just leave the car parked the whole trip, but sometimes venture out. When returning, We use magic bands to tap into the outer lane, but one could go through the lane for the guard again. I'd also recommend have a key card of some type and keeping in the car. Used cell phone for lots of stuff last trip, including getting into the room, but have never tried for parking.

They no longer register the cars. My guess is because they have gotten a bit more strict at the guard shack about only letting those in with reservations, or other reasons. Since its a points stay, there are not charges either so I dont think they need the car info.

Sandi is correct, you do not need to register your vehicle on points, either your MB or phone should gain you entry into the resort.

As PPs have said, on initial arrival they’ll enter via the left gate and give the guard the name of the person listed as primary guest on the reservation as well as a photo ID. If they won’t have MBs, they should visit the front desk and ask for a key card. They can use that in place of a MB to enter the parking lot via the right gate. It will also work to unlock the room door and for park entry, LLs, VQ etc. for the person whose MDE account it’s linked to.
