Launching and landing is very easy. You sit down on the back of the boat once they hook you up and then you're gently lifted into the air. When you land, they simply reel you back in. They can dip you in the water, but it would be purposeful. If you don't want that, just tell your operators. Some of the kids in bathing suits wanted to get dipped a little.
It's a very unique experience. You feel like you're simply suspended in midair and don't feel like you're moving. It's amazingly quiet, and I don't think you get a clear idea of how high you are since you're just over water. Everything (ship, island) are in the distance anyways, so it's hard to tell.
I don't know if it's worth the cost or not. If your budget is tight, probably not. You are out there for about an hour, and even though you're only up in the air for about five minutes, the boat goes very fast and gives a much more exciting kind of ride if you're into speed.
