Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was just checking out the menu at the Riverbelle Terrace restaurant, and I had a few questions.

I haven't eaten there since they reopened, but I noticed that their turkey sandwich is priced at $12.99. That seems pricey to me for a sandwich, even more then the one I had at Carnation Cafe.
Can someone who's eaten there tell me if it's worth it? I mean what makes them so special that they cost more? :confused3

Also what is the Dreams Cake that is listed for $4.99? It doesn't give a description of what sort of cake it is.

Finally, if anyone has any pics of any of the food from there (lunch or dinner) and wouldn't mind posting them, that would be great. I'm just trying to decide if it's worth eating there or not....

Thanks!! :flower3:

I was really dissappointed in the new menu. Food was very dry. I've had the bbq sandwich. the dreams cake if i remember correctly was a slice of chocolate cake with a mini year of a million dreams castle on top of it. If i had the option i would so choose carnation over riverbelle

The sandwiches are large. They are on a soft roll, not regular bread. It comes with a choice of sides- baked beans, fruit, pasta salad. I cant remember if we got one or two sides with it. They have a "topping" bar where you can get lettuce, tomato, onion and various sauces. We bought 3 sandwiches for our family of 4 to share.

Thanks for the info.
I'm still not sure what to do. LOL I wanted to try it there, but I'm still not entirely sure it's worth it. Maybe I can just decide once we get there since it's a counter service.

We ate there in mid-June for lunch. We all had the prime rib sandwich, which came with au jus sauce, although the turkey they were slicing looked yummy too. We all opted to not get the baked beans, so the kids got potatoes, I think, and I got cole slaw to substitute, and then we each picked the fruit salad side. It was like a full meal, not just a plain deli sandwich, and very tasty. Since it was so much, we made it our main meal for that day. So I didn't mind paying the $12.99 each for the meal -- it was the $2.69 each for a soda that about did me in :scared1:

The sandwich was good- big and filling. Was it worth $12? Nope.

If the Dreams Cake is the chocolate-ish cake, you can get it all over. I had it, and was disappointed by it, at Rancho del Zocalo, and then hubby drooled over it at Plaza Inn, and again I was disappointed by it (the three of us shared it that time). It's not really chocolate cake, it has a layer of cake, and a layer of this weird almost nougaty thing, and some sort of other layer. Just not good IMO.

As for the other question, I only had b'fast there (yum) so I can't help.

Bumber, I felt the same way about that cake. It tasted like a bitter mousse cheesecake kind of thing. more than half of ours went in the garbage!

Oh, we had that cake a couple of times (courtesy of my dd the chocoholic). It was okay, but nothing to write home about.

For REALLY good chocolate cake, get it at the GoldenHorseshoe, or the little cantina next door. It is huge like Claim Jumpers cake, and it will easily feed 3 people. All chocolate w/ chocolate icing about 6 layers of it. YUMMY!

OMG, we had that last month when we were there!!! It was good, and all 6 of us shared it and were able to get quite a bit each. It's huge!!

Well, I know for sure I'll be skipping the Dreams Cake then. Jury is still out on the sandwiches.

I saw that cake somewhere, and it looked suspiciously (exactly) like Safeway/Von's "Colossal Cake" which I could have gotten for 3 bucks. So we passed it up. Didn't end up getting the colossal cake, but oh well. :lmao:

It also looks just like the one from Claim Jumper as was said earlier, so who knows. LOL It was good though. :thumbsup2

My dad would always get that huge choco cake slice at the GH to eat before and during the show. It was surprisingly moist! Everyone just kind of stuck their fork in and helped themselves...yummy!

We love that cake! We eat at Rancho every visit and we always get that cake. BUT it's nothing like the Mile High Cake so if you're looking for super chocolate go with the MHC at the Golden Horseshoe...and watch Billy Hill, you won't regret it!
