??? about making party items PLEASE!!

I have been SO inspired by alot of disigners in this forum I started thinking I would LOVE to try to make the party items seen on here and ebay/etsy

BUT.................HOW

Where do I start? What program do I need, where do I get templates I am a TRUE rookie at this BUT have a HUGE interest in doing custom things for my children!!

ANY and ALL info. to point me in the starting direction is GREATLY appreciated!!

First, unless you purchase an image for commercial use or create it from start to finish...it is illegal to sell items on itsy and ebay. A lot of the things with Disney, television and movie items that you see on those sites are being illegally sold as they find the pictures online and use them without paying for them. Yes a lot of them get away with it, but it isn't worth the tens of thousand dollar fines to make $25, which is why I do everything for free on these Boards.

I personally use photoshop elements to make my images and love it! There is a steep learning curve to using elements but it is something you can learn with a little bit of time and patience. There are lots of great video tutorials that you can find on www.youtube.com and google to learn how to use it and there is a great forum similar to this called www.elementsvillage.com. I suggest getting elements and not the full blown photoshop which is for professionals.

My personal favorites for free templates are www.jersgirl.com and www.bellesprintables.com, but you can also use google to find free templates as well.

I actually own Photoshop elements 6, gosh for a few years now....but as you stated it is very complicated to use I have only used it for editing my own photos ie B&W, color touch etc. I was never aware that you could do ALL of this on that program.....headed to the tutorial you posted THANK YOU for the info. and the INSPIRATION!!!

Here is an example of a video tutorial...this one teaches you how to use PSE to do name fills. You can learn to do everything you want...with a little bit of time and just trying different things...you can learn to be a pro.
