We are staying offsite our first night after flying into MCO with SW. Then we head to ASMo for 5 nights then to the Disney Dream for 4 nights.

We rec'd our Disney mail, and instead of the yellow strips we've had in the past, we rec't these cute luggage tags that I'd like to use.....But are they for magical express users only? We won't be using ME, just renting a car for our first few days!

I don't want our luggage to go to ASMo when we aren't there!!:scared1:

From your description these sound like the souvenir decorative luggage tags that are included with your WDW vacation package. They aren't used for routing luggage.

The ones I got last year had a holographic image with the characters. The back of the tag is just a plain old spot for your address. Previous years had images of the castle.

Are your tags like that?

Yes! There's Mickey, Minnie and Goofy with the castle in the background and it is holographic!

So I can safely use them then and ME won't pick them up?

The DME tags have a bar code on them, and have a Mickey head on the tag that signifies an area of WDW where your hotel would be located (eg. it would be a mickey head that says MK if you're staying at the Poly - tells the handler its going to an MK area resort). The barcode then allows the handlers to route it to the correct resort and room.

If none of that is on the tag you got, you're good to go.

The Magical Express baggage tags are yellow cardboard. If you use them, remove them before going home as they are not applicable then.

The plastic tags are not connected with Magical Express and can be used for all trips anyplace.

The Magical Express baggage tags are yellow cardboard.

I think this is a little misleading. The yellow DME tags are not really cardboard, but paper with peel back sticky areas. They are just like the tags the airlines print out when you check your luggage and they mark your bag for it's destination.

Anyway, if it doesn't look like an airline baggage tag, it's just a keepsake ID tag....a gift.

The DME tags are actually Tyvek bright yellow and only come in a DME package with your vouchers and instructions on DME. They look like the tags the airlines use, have a mickey head and a barcode. If you are not using DME don't use them at all.

It sounds like you booked a package that included souvineer luggage tags - they can be used anytime any place and DME will not pick up your bags if you use them.
