Hello,

First time cruiser here. :wave2:

My question is about luggage on the last day, disembarkment day.

We are being picked up by a town car.

Could someone tell me how this works? Do we leave our luggage out the night before and just have a carry on? Where does our luggage go? And how do we retrieve it.

Thanks for helping this first timer, I know it will be just "Wonder"ful on the cruise. :sunny:

The last night of your cruise you pack everything up except what you will need in the morning (clothes and grooming supplies) Your luggage needs to be outside of your door by 11pm with the character tags on it that they will give you on that last day (BTW, big tip....take address lables with your name/address on them and then all you'll have to do is fill in stateroom number and your number of bags--i.e. 1 out of 3, 2 out of 3)

In the morning pack up all the rest in a carry on and take it to breakfast. As you disembark the ship you'll be directed to the luggage holding room where it will all be categorized based on who was on your character tag (Donald, Mickey, Daisy, etc) They SAY that within that section your bags will be placed in numerical order by stateroom, but we've found that not to be the case. If you want you can have a porter help you (don't forget to tip) and then he will lead you through customs and onto where you'll meet your towncar driver.

I've never cruised any line besides Disney, but they SAY that Disney has it down to a science and it's all seamless. I'll have to say, it's pretty easy and from the time we get off the ship until we get to our final destination (car or bus) it's less than 10 minutes.

HTH.

Seamless is right.....wow...we were amazed at how smooth this process is, nothing like getting your luggage after a flight...lol.

Keep you id and customs form in your hand....
Everyone is directed the same way...we went into the elevator..porters standing by with carts when doors open...do you need help with your luggage, we said yes...ok he said...what is your stateroom number...we told him and off we went...I held the carry on..hubby told him colors of the luggage and they grabbed all 4 pieces in less than a couple minutes and we were off to the car.

Extremely impressive process.

Easy, LoveMickey. The driver parks the town car. Like a brief love story, you find one another. The driver loads the car while you sit in it. As soon as all the luggage is in the trunk, the driver drives as you, the passenger, passenger...

I'm probably in the minority here, but when I cruised in June, I didn't leave my luggage outside of my cabin. This was my 10th cruise and the first time that I didn't (something has always creeped me out about putting my luggage in the hallway for anyone to pick up- luggage locks or not-maybe I'm getting to be a little anal). Anyway, on the final morning, we ate breakfast at BBB (around 7:15) while leaving our luggage in our cabin, returned to our room around 7:45, grabbed luggage and rolled off the ship by 7:55 to check our bags in at USAIR port check-in. I don't know how much time we saved by not having to get our luggage in the customs area, but I know that I slept better:D

BD - that was way too funny. :rotfl:

Also, don't forget to leave out clothes, shoes and toiletries that you will need in the morning. We have never had a problem with our luggage.
Parents say Disney is the best in the cruise industry for getting your luggage when you get off the ship.

I have never felt weird about leaving our luggage in the hallway at night (sailed with DCL 9 times) but I have to tell you things do happen in the night.....

I just came off a three day Wonder last week with my Aunt. She is in a wheelchair and the chair took up too much room to keep in the cabin, and I also did not want my aunt to trip on it in the middle of the night if she need to get up.

We kept the chair right outside our cabin in Deck 7 folded up and it fit very well in a recess in the wall. Well we woke up on CC day and went to get the chair so we could go to breakfast.....no chair. Someone had taken it. At first I thought maybe our room steward had moved it but when we asked he said he had not seen it. This posed quite a problem because she needs the chair for long distances. I called Guest Service and explained the problem. There were going to send up a replacement chair. After about 20 minutes there was a knock at the door and Guest Service was there with our chair. Security was sent out looking for it and it was found two decks down on the other side/end of the ship. Apparently someone went for a joyride with it. It had our cabin number on it so I would have been nice if they had returned it.

Anyway, we were quite relieved. I had rented it from CareMedical and they delivered and picked it up right at the port...very convenient.
