Has anyone ever recovered a lost item from Disney's Lost and Found?
We checked out of the Tree House Villas last Sat. the 10th. After arriving home discovered a missing item DW is sure she put in a drawer by the bed. Called Dis and was routed to security who told us that the Treehouse had occupants and they wouldn't be able to search it untill they checked out.
Myconcern is the hours of operation for security as stated on the phone are Mon-Fri *-4 EDT. So it is possible that they never will be able to check the Villa, or ask the new occupants, staff, etc, and get back to us as check in is 4 pm and chedck out is 11 am and they are located at OKW> Have been waiting since Tues. 13th. not a word back. At least tell us you didnt find anything. Has this happened to others??

We had a similar situation in that DH left an item (just his car keys:lmao:) in the drawer next to the bed in our WDW hotel (pre-DVC). We discovered they were missing after our plane landed at the airport, and we were headed to the car to drive home. Good thing our neighbor was home and drove to the airport to get us when we called. DH called the hotel, who fortunately located the keys and sent them overnight to our house. A couple times, when we've lost things in recent years, a call to Disney Lost and Found hasn't helped.

Disney Lost and Found is a mixed bag deal. I've had far more luck retrieving lost items from them when it's been lost in a park verses left in a unit for housekeeping to find an turn in.

I suspect the housekeepers are so rushed they either just toss the items out or it gets bundled in with the linens to clean and is never seen again. It is possible they could find it if they sense the urgency behind it and no one has taken it. It might help if you talk with a manager in housekeeping. A manager might be able to go over and ask to look in the drawer whereas a standard CM won't know what to do.

What's important to you may not be important to someone else. Disney deals with thousands of lost items each year and for them it's just another day on the job. I would see if you can leave a phone message for the Guests in your room. The sooner the better.

I've left something twice and both times, I have recovered the item.

First time, AKL. Cellphone. It was turned in to Security, but I had to wait until they opened to get it back. I was still at Disney, doing a split stay and left it on the bed, so I am fortunate it didn't get laundered. No one could process it back to me except Security. That part was kind of irritating, but it worked out.

Second time, just this past January. Sunglasses and lunch. We were again doing a split stay, moving from a studio to a one bedroom. Went to the desk and got my one bedroom really early, so was ready to just walk our stuff to the new room a bit after 10am. Placed my sunglasses and lunch (it was leftovers from dinner the previous evening) on the kitchenette counter.

The Mousekeepers were hovering in the hallway.

So we grabbed our rolling suitcases and etc, etc and headed off to our next room. As soon as we got into the room, I reaized I'd forgotten the glasses and our lunch. Walked back to the room - it took us maybe 7-8 minutes total. My stuff was in the trash. The mousekeeper reluctantly dug through her trash bag for my glasses. I no longer desired the lunch.

I was pretty shocked that my glasses went so quickly into the trash.

I hope you reported the sunglasses into the trash bit. I don't own any expensive pairs, but I know they can cost hundreds. It shouldn't be a housekeeper's call to make as to whether a personal item is something of value or not.

I changed rooms at christmas at the AKL villas, and I left my teapot in the grand villa, ( not a normal tea pot) lol....I left it there the second day. I never saw it again! I figured if anything that is the one thing that would be turned in...never was :rolleyes1

I reported the incident at the front desk. The CM was very apologetic. Somehow I wasn't satisfied so I emailed Member Services at email address that is often on here. I received a call on my service that they had rec'd my email and would do follow up and to call back at such and such a number if I wanted to. I had my glasses and had notified them, so I was finished at that point.

The glasses were not pricey but they were new...not scuffed or scratched. And - she was annoyed to have to get them for me. She had no choice as she knew I knew they were in her trash bag.

Call direct and ask to be connected to be connected to room xyz.

I am usually on the side of secuity, but It does not make sense that they can not leave a mesage for the guest to check or knock on the door and ask.

I do i undertsand not entering the room with out the current guest being there.I would not want secuirty going through my things looking for someones elses items.

ALso plenty of times my kids were sure they left something somwhere only to be found elsewhere.

On the opposite side we checked into BWV several years ago and found three or four hot wheel type cars and a buzz ligtyear figure in a drawer.Assuming that a little boy may miss them I bought them to the front desk.
The clerk checked and saw that the families luggage was checked with valet.

She asked the valet to put a note on their ticket.
As she was talking to him.He pointed out the family who were also in the lobby.

The little boy was thrilled to get his cars back.Turns out the mom hid them there so he would stop playing and go to sleep and forgot about them when they woke up.

I've had experiences with Lost and Found twice and both times they were positive experiences.

The first time, was in 1998 and we forgot a hat in our room. We didn't even bother to contact them, because we figured it was no big deal however a week later they shipped it to us.

The second time was in 2007, my DH lost his cell phone somewhere in Epcot. It turned up the next day at the Lost and Found.

I did lose my cell phone in MK last year .It was given to cast member who turned it into City Hall.I had it back in half hour.
