I just called member services to add the dining plan to my upcoming trip. He gave me the total price for 1 child & 3 adults. I am taking my youngest DD & my parents on this trip. I asked him if when we check in we could pay separately for the dining plan....I would pay for 1 adult & 1 child, my parents would pay for 2 adults. He said yes, but then I got confused when he said something about leaving only 1 credit card on file for charging purposes at check-in. Can someone please explain this to me? I was hoping that I could leave a credit card & my parents could, too. Will this work?

No, you will only be able to leave on credit card on your account. You can choose which cards have charging privileges though, so you could put your card down and just not have your parents cards activated for charging (or vice versa). You could also have the one card on the account, let everyone charge and then have one of you pay the other back for your charges. The charges will be itemized and each person's card has a unique ending number so it is fairly easy to split charges.

BTW, you will still be able to pay for the dining plan separately. You can take care of that when you check in and then put the card on your account for the rest of your charges.

The Dining Plan is paid for at check-in, not necessarily by a "room charge", so if both parties that want to split the DDP cost are present, they can divide the cost.

But, as far as charging privledges to the room, that is limited to one credit card on file per reservation. There are a couple of options.

  • Your parents do not use the room charging option, and simply carry their own credit card for in park purchases.
  • If you are near the room credit limit ($1500 for DVC accomodations) or the night before check-out, go to the front desk and ask for a printout of the charges. They wwill be broken down by individual room key, and your parents can pay their portion at that time.

I received a different answer when I called SSR yesterday. We have 3 families checking in. I was told each family could have their own credit card tied to their room key. When I told the CM that I had read otherwise she put me on hold to double check. When she came back she confirmed that it is possible as long as the other family is at check in. I am hopeful that this is correct. I will find out next Sunday.

I stayed with 3 friends one time at OKW with the dining plan. All 4 of us paid separately at check-in. 1 used a credit card, 1 a rewards card and 2 cash.

If each family has a separate room, I there's not a problem with separate credit cards. 3 families in one room, I didn't think they could separate room charges. I think they maybe able to split it with a lockoff since there are actually 2 room numbers.

The reservation is for a dedicated 2 bedroom. I can only go by what the CM said since I have never done this before. I will find out on Sunday and post my experience when I return.

Definitely have a back-up plan in place! This has never been possible before and I don't think the policy has changed.

Have a great trip!

In case this is not possible each family can just use their own credit card. We will just hope for the best and if not just go with the flow. I haven't seen my friends in 4 yrs so no matter what happens all is good. :goodvibes
