? About Kids: Are All Boys This Gross?

:lmao:

I have never understood why everyone thinks it should be perfectly normal for men to stand up at a device that is clearly not designed for it, especially if they go to other peoples houses. Why should someone else have to clean up your urine. Seriously. If more moms would put their foot down and insist that their sons sit down at home and in private houses we wouldn't have this problem. In a public bathroom, or at a urinal - absolutely, please stand up

DH discovered as a teenager that if he sat down he didn't have so much to clean up. His mom made him clean the bathroom. We have passed this down to DS, and I make him clean the bathroom after his friends visit - ick.

Do men think they are less manly if they sit down? I dare anyone to tell my DH he isn't manly ;)

Sorry, it is one of my pet peeves in life, and I think it just shows such disrespect to whomever cleans the bathroom (usually Mom).

Okay rant over, I feel better now, :flower3:

I have a friend who trained her DH to sit when he pees. He's gotten so much grief from it ever since his DW announced to everyone that he sits. He's gotten lots of grief from it over the years. One year he got a birthday gift from someone that said, "Real men stand up when they pee." :lmao:

yeah that is my husband's favoritie expression when he is describing a guy who he feels is less than manly...."oh he sits to pee"

Looks like I'm one of the few representatives of the male gender to reply to this thread. (I'm mentally getting prepared to dodge the brickbats.)

Running the risk of grossness, may I point out that both boy and man, when they stand to pee, may well think about how they can entertain themselves. When you pee a few times a day, day in and day out, year after year, you find your entertainment wherever you can. (Hey, what can I say? That's human nature, at least for us men!) One way would be to see if you can hit whatever you aim at - hosing around, so to speak. There is a reason some models of an urinal have a fly painted at the bottom of the bowl; it's second nature to see if you can hit it.

I can easily visualize an 8 year old deliberately spraying around. But even if he doesn't do it deliberately, his mind may wander or his hand may shake, and oops, there it goes, onto the floor.

Yup, it happens. Yeech and double yeech. But OP, getting your son to clean up - every single time - is the best way to make sure he pays better attention to his aim.

Suejai, no way men are going to be trained to sit down. It's so much easier and faster to fire away while standing. Yes, I know that toilets are designed with a seat, but the seat can and should be lifted up when the men in the house step up to spray. And with the seat lifted up, it takes very little aiming to ensure that every single drop goes where it's supposed to. (I like the admonishment I've seen posted over an urinal: "Step closer. It's shorter than you think.") :lmao:

When my oldest son was 3 1/2-4, I used to get so annoyed with his lack of aim!!! It was always a mess for me to clean up. Then at a check up, the dr. noticed that his urethra opening was a bit small...turns out that the kid had skin growing over it! We went to a specialist wher he had to pee so they could watch the direction of the flow...well it went UP, even though he was clearly pointing down. Talk about feeling horrible!! My poor baby had been aiming just fine!! A few weeks later he had a minor surgery (not in his opinion at the time LOL) to fix it and all was well. He was real worried that when he woke up it would be gone. LOL Except now that he's older it's like he has FORGOTTEN to pay attention to what's he's doing.

No not all boys are that gross. I cannot remember ever cleaning up pee from the floor. If I had once I would never do it again because the boy and his father would be on bathroom duty from then on with me watching to make sure it was done correctly.

Well...my 8 yr old DS is that gross! I thought I was alone in cleaning pee off the walls, the floor, all over the toilet.

I just bought the 2 yr old DS a training potty (the boys will share a bathroom)...and guess what? ODS wanted to use it for target practice...he won't anymore since he had to scrub it clean.

I keep hoping he'll be less messy as he gets older, but some of these posts don't give me much hope...

Can someone help me with cleaning grout in the bathrooms since we're on this subject. My bathrooms all have white porcelain floors with a light grout which is now fast becoming yellow/orange despite the grout being sealed. How do I clean that off? Can I bleach it?

I remember one time when my son was around 4, the bathroom was covered in pee. I brought my son in and asked him in a stern voice "WHAT HAPPENED?!!" He just looked at me with his big, blue eyes and said, "I'm sorry, mom. It went out of control!" and I couldn't help but laugh.:rotfl: He has gotten much better at 14.

My cousin told me that when her boys were little her bathroom smelled really gross. She kept cleaning the bathroom floor, the toilet and all to try to disinfect, but it still stank. Finally, one day she walked in and caught them at it. They were in the bathroom together seeing who could pee higher up on the wall!:lmao: Only boys could think of that.

My younger son had the same problem. I noticed when I started potty training him. I would help him aim, and I quickly noticed we were not hitting where we were aiming. My son had to have a minor surgery as well, and afterwards, our aim improved immediately.;)
