In the past we have done MNSSHP as a replacement day for MK. Now the boys are a little older and the price is higher so its not really worth it.

If they go to HHN, can they see all the attractions/rides that would be open during regular hours? At WDW, you could always get in the park about 3 hrs before the party too- does US allow this?

This is only at US, not IOA, correct? If they wanted to go to IOA they have to get a separate ticket?

Only at US that is correct. This was my first HHN this year, but I am pretty sure you need two separate tickets, there isn't a preview before HHN opens. All of the rides are not open either, you will only get to ride Jaws, MIB, The Mummy, The Simpsons, and if it's open HR3.

at WDW it was not really a preview. You can just get into the MK early with your MNSSHP ticket, and have more time in the park. Then when the reg park hours are over, they get all of the non ticket holders out and the party starts

Ticket prices for just the HHN event for one person is $69.99 plus tax.

Only a few select rides are open during the event (Simpsons, Men in Black, Jaws, Mummy)

As for getting in the park before the event, those that have paid for daytime admission to the park and are still in the park, are entitled to use what is called a "Stay and Scream" option - a special holding place until they clear out the park of regular daytime guests. This allows you a jump start on the regular line coming into the park for the event (approx 1/2 hour). Otherwise you will need to line up outside the gates and will be admitted to the event once they've cleared the park of daytime guests. You would still need a valid HHN event ticket to use the Stay and Scream option although the Stay and Scream ticket is a bit cheaper - price depends on which night you go).

Yes - keeping in mind that IOA closes between 6 and 7 pm depending on the day.

Another thing to consider is this event is definitely geared towards teenagers and adults - it is nothing like MNSSHP. There is a disclaimer on the HHN website that clearly states that the event is not recommended for anyone under the age of 13, and no costumes are allowed.

I saw one day tickets for $30. The 6999 were for multi day(sun-thurs) admission.

my boys are 15 and 12.5 so they will be fine. if we decide to go this route

is there a place i can find a list of exactly what rides are open? The universal website does not say much

The only way its $29.99 is stay and scream (add on to day ticket) pass or annual passholder sun. - thurs. Florida ressie still pay $39.99 on those days.

The tickets said that we would skip the fronyt gate entrance and get in at an Entrance near Seuss Landing. One Fish Two Fish. Does anyone know if this is the same as the stay and scream entrance?

It is not the same thing. Stay and Scream is actually a holding area inside of universal studios, not an entrance in the literal sense. Its for people that were already in universal studios during the day so they do not have to leave the park to then re-enter with the rest of HHN ticket holders.

Yes...that is IoA's "S & S" entrance...it's actually the side entrance to the Studios.

But I've heard that those guests aren't allowed to enter US for HHN as early as the US Stay & Scream are released, so it's better to do Stay & Scream at US.

Right but that's what people call it so you go with what people know. The IoA entrance historically hasn't been a huge success and I've witnessed people coming into the S & S area from that entrance when The Bone Yard was used as the holding area...so it HAS been done before. They even had to go through the metal detectors so it's the same but different. The IoA ticket doesn't really do you any good but they sell it so people can get in to HHN a little bit earlier than waiting outside.

I definitely wouldn't both with the IOA entrance. Stay and Scream in the holding pens in Uni is soooo much better. I think they are using both pens this year, although we've only done the one by Finnigan's because we get dinner before the event.

To the OP: Even without the rides being open, I think you and your boys will have plenty to do with the haunted houses and scare zones. And unless it's an insanely busy night, the ride lines are usually pretty minimal.
