? about going to beach on off day

We are thinking about going to the beach on our off day for our upcoming September trip. We know nothing about the best beaches around or how far away they are.

Can anyone tell us where the best or closest beach is from Disney World?

In my experience it takes no longer than 1 and1/2 hours to get to beach from WDW. We have been to both sides and I haven't been to a beach I didn't like. Be aware that although you can drive on and park on the beach at Daytona it is still a hike to the water. At Clearwater Beach we were fortunate enough to park by an outdoor shower pully to rinse our feet off. Cocoa Beach was the only one that we were near a bath house to change our clothes in private. We always brought our own cooler of drinks and snacks.

Daytona Beach now has a splash park and it has changing areas, showers, picnic tables and a playground. This is all free and the beach is right there infront of you. Just walk down a set of stairs.
