I'm a little unsure of how the FOTL works. I know we need to show our room keys, but does that mean that our kids have to hold onto their keys the whole time? Or do the adults just keep them and pass them all in at one time? Will our 2 year old require one as well even if we don't have to buy her a ticket?

I appreciate any help - we just want to make sure we've figured out how these things work BEFORE we get in line and hold it up through our ignorance. Or, even worse, have to go back to the hotel because we didn't think the baby needed a card :sad2:

TIA!

Everybody in the room will get a room key and they will need to show it at each ride.

One person can hold onto all the room keys and show them as a group when approaching the express line. When my kids were younger, I held on to all except for DH's. I would hold them up as we approached, fanned out so the team member could count them. DH would be in the back of our little group with his card so it was easy to count the kids and match them up with the number of cards I was carrying.

The team member would glance at the cards to make sure the dates were valid, count the cards, count the kids and then would head on through the express line.

Each person does not need to be holding onto their own card.

just want to add you do need the hotel key card for the 2 year old.

What our family of 5 did was buy the cute lanyards that hold your tickets and room key. They sell them at the resort hotels and in city walk.Just hang it around your neck and your off.:cool1:

Thanks for the responses :goodvibes

I was just a little confused because we always get a package at Disney and we all (except the baby) get cards because they're our passes as well. I wasn't sure how it would work at Universal since we bought our passes separately.

I'm guessing they just automatically hand us all the cards when we check in? I always check our cards at Disney because more than once they've forgotten to give us a card or 2 :confused3. Thanks for letting me know that the baby needs a card too, so I can make sure to check for ALL of them :thumbsup2

We'll probably just end up holding on to them for the kids, like we do at Disney. I'm only a little concerned with keeping up with them because we don't pull them out all day at Disney and with 6 of us, I can easily see losing someone's, but we'll just be careful :thumbsup2 I like the idea of the lanyard type things, and I could see my 10 year old doing great, our 8 and 4 year old boys, not so much :rolleyes1

Thanks again - it's been a lot of years and we're looking forward to it!

tell the TM at check in you don't want charging privileges on the kids' hotel cards.

whenever i am in the parks, i can't even begin to tell you how many hotel cards i find and turn into guest services.

if you do lose any of the cards, go to guest services and they will contact your hotel for you.

you can pick up the replacement card in the lobby before you return to your room from the day in the park if that happens.

I just fan them out with the date exposed for our family of 5. Every once in a while they scan them or count them. Most of the time they just check the date and let us through.

You should keep them handy though, because they check for them twice. Once at the entrance and once closer to boarding.

When we were there in June, we used this feature. What a treat.

Alot of the time they really only looked at one card. DH carried all 4, and like a previous poster wrote, once in awhile they would scan a card, some times count all 4, but most of the time looked at the first card and away we went.

Just wanted to clarify that your Express (FOTL) passes are actually your room keys. They are not loaded onto your tickets.

You will use your passes to get into the parks. Put those away for the rest of your time in the park.

You then will be using your hotel room keys, one per person, to access the Express lines.

A bunch of us put this FAQ together to help explain how the Express pass works. Hope it answers any other of your questions:

Where at the resort do they sell the lanyards? We stayed at RPH and I never saw them. We are heading to Hard Rock on Monday and would love to pick them up. Are they in the gift shop?
thanks!!

Oops! I completely missed this. I think I'll just blame it on the little ones who want to "help" me whenever I'm on the Disboards. They keep hoping for another glimpse of Princess Tiana, but will happily settle for Minnie, or Mickey, or Goofy, or Donald......:upsidedow

I think I'm spending too much time fending them off and not enough time paying attention to what I'm doing. Thanks for the link and for pointing it out so graciously :flower3:

Yes, they are in the gift shop on the counter where you pay.

I've also seen them at Emack & Bolio's when grabbing a quick bagel. I don't recall the price; we were using the lanyards from our cruise.
