When we drive to WDW we travel south on I-75 to the turnpike and take that to I-4. I've heard of some people taking the turnpike and getting off on Hwy. 27 and taking that to 192. Which route is better? It usually takes us less than 1 1/2 hours to drive from Wildwood to WDW and we usually don't hit too much traffic on I-4. Is hwy. 27 shorter? Are there plenty of stop lights on 27? What about traffic? Which way would you recommend?

IMHO the Route 27 route is much less congested.

There are I think about half a dozen stop lights between the Tpke and 192. I live at about the halfway point between exit 385 and route 192. It's a very easy drive through pretty scenery.

We took 75 to the turnpike to 27 to 192. The toll was $1.25 on the way in and free on the way out because of Jeanne. This seemed like the shortest way to me, but it's mostly a 4-lane with occasional stop lights and seemingly endless stretches of subdivisions as your only views. Pleasant but kinda boring when you're *ready* to see some vacation sites after driving 23 hours:) I do recall passing several citrus farms between the subdivisions though. I'm not sure what the view is going the other way. I agree that 27 was not very busy at all, maybe only a couple other vehicles in view most of the time.

We did the Turnpike/27 route back in '97 when we went and I really liked it. Beat trying to keep up with the exit numbers. And this time we will take it since it will put us closer to CSR coming in. I've done my homework better on the map, though this time, so I think next Spring when we go, we'll take the Turnpike all the way to I4, since we'll be staying at POR, and it has an exit closer to that.
Have fun planning.
